Pāramitā (Sanskrit, Pali) or pāramī (Pāli) is "perfection" or "completeness." While technically pāramī and pāramitā are both Pāli terms, Pali literature makes far greater reference to pāramī. Bhikkhu Bodhi (2005) states:
These paramitas are divided into 3: Parami, Upa Parami, and Paramattha Parami.
A more creative yet widely reported etymology divides pāramitā into pāra and mita, with pāra meaning "beyond," "the further bank, shore or boundary," and mita, meaning "that which has arrived," or ita meaning "that which goes." Pāramitā, then means "that which has gone beyond," "that which goes beyond," or "transcendent." This reading is reflected in the Tibetan translation pha rol tu phyin pa ("gone to the other side").
Theravāda Buddhism
Theravada teachings on the pāramīs can be found in late canonical books and post-canonical commentaries.
Paramita is a three-piece pop rock act in the Philippines that has been playing their own brand of music since 2003. Paramita is made up of Marco De Leon on guitars (replacing Norman Dellosa), Alsey Cortez on bass, and Ria Bautista on drums and vocals. In 2005, they released their first single "Hiling" under Vicor Records which placed them on the map. It was included in the 10-track full-length album entitled Tala. Six of the album's songs are written in English while four are in Tagalog. Their second album was self-titled Paramita which was released in 2008 under Terno Recordings. By 2010, they decided to go fully independent under Blaster Music (an independent music organization) and launched their third album named Liyab. Their song "Turbulence" was on NU107.7 Stairway to Seven and was no. 1 for 12 weeks on UR105.9 Underground Radio. Their songs "Sulyap" and "Nightingale" received airplay on local stations.
Despite being such a young band, Paramita has already been featured in several media sources, such as MTV Ink magazine, the Philippine Daily Inquirer, NU 107's In The Raw radio program and the ABS-CBN morning show Breakfast. Paramita is fast becoming one of the most solid independent acts in the scene today, enlightened by music and strengthened by a belief in their own unique talents.

TALA (STAR)
Your star is shining
Its brightness is unfading
Beyond compare to anything on earth
Only your light can be seen on the heavens
But why does your smile bear bitterness
Have you forgotten
(That) Every second is borrowed
Just shed your tears off the bitterness
Your star is beginning to dim
The brightness begins to fade
Every second is borrowed
Just shed your tears off the bitterness
Every second is borrowed
Just shed your tears off the bitterness
When Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva was practicing the profound prajna paramita, he illuminated the five skandhas and saw that they are all empty, and he crossed beyond all suffering and difficulty.
Shariputra, form does not differ from emptiness; emptiness does not differ from form. Form itself is emptiness; emptiness itself is form. So, too, are feeling, cognition, formation, and consciousness.
Shariputra, all dharmas are empty of characteristics. They are not produced. Not destroyed, not defiled, not pure, and they neither increase nor diminish. Therefore, in emptiness there is no form, feeling, cognition, formation, or consciousness; no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no sights, sounds, smells, tastes, objects of touch, or dharmas; no field of the eyes, up to and...

Therefore, in emptiness there is no form, feeling, cognition, formation, or consciousness; no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no sights, sounds, smells, tastes, objects of touch, or dharmas; no field of the eyes, up to and including no field of mind-consciousness; and no ignorance or ending of ignorance, up to and including no old age and death or ending of old age and death. There is no suffering, no accumulating, no extinction, no way, and no understanding and no attaining.
Because nothing is attained, the Bodhisattva, through reliance on prajna paramita, is unimpeded in his mind. Because there is no impediment, he is not afraid, and he leaves distorted dream-thinking far behind. Ultimately Nirvana!
All Buddhas of the three periods of time attain Anuttarasamyaksambodhi through reliance on prajna paramita. Therefore, know that prajna paramita is a great spiritual mantra, a great bright mantra, a supreme mantra, an unequalled mantra. It can remove all suffering; it is genuine and not false. That is why the mantra of prajna paramita was spoken. Recite it like this:
Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha!
