Pan-Latinism is an ideology that promotes the unification of the Romance-speaking peoples.
History
It has been claimed that pan-Latinism originated in Italy, itself the place of origin of original Latins, in the medieval era with Italian poet Dante Alighieri who spoke in favour of the idea in an imperial form of world or at least European domination by Latins.
The term pan-Latinism was coined by Torres de Caicedo (1830-1889). Pan-Latinism originated on the idea of a common Latin race.
Pan-Latinism first arose in prominence in France particularly from the influence of Michel Chevalier (1806–1879) who contrasted the "Latin" peoples of the Americas with the "Anglo-Saxon" peoples there. 19th century French writer Stendhal spoke of "Latinism" as an imperial idea that the Latins should rule over their non-Latin neighbours. Later it was adopted by Napoleon III who declared support for the cultural unity of Latin peoples and presented France as the modern leader of the Latin peoples that was used to justify French intervention in Mexican politics that led to the creation of the pro-French Second Mexican Empire.
It was recently Dante Day in Italia. It's the 700th anniversary year of the great poet's passing, in whose most famous work, "La divina commedia", his guide is il poeta latino Virgil who wrote the ancient Italian origin story. The work of Machiavelli speaks of the practicality, not the poetry, needed to prevail amidst societal conflict in his time. We use this as an opportunity to expand to a larger issue of ethnic relations in America which is perennially on a hamster wheel of self-perpetuating ethnic conflict. Compassion, education, and time is the answer to most of our societal troubles. If you are a warrior, be one that values those three things.

What if the Latin World United? Neo-Roman Empire
What if the Latin-descended world united as a single country? In yet another outlandish, but historically-rooted scenario, we will be discussing some of the history of the Latin/Romance/Italic peoples and languages as the heirs of the Roman Empire, their main demographic influence around the world, and what it would look like if the vast Latin/Italic world became a single country.
Although improbably considering the ramifications, this pan-Latin scenario is based somewhat in historical precedence, and entails interesting demographic oddities considering the bulk of those of Latin (Latino) descent are multiracial today. Be sure to let me know your thoughts on this whacky and eccentric scenario. Thanks for watching!

Is Latin America western?
Latin America has long fought to discover itself and its identity. Culturally western, it is not recognized as such by the nations of Europe and North America despite all of their similarities.
As a romance-speaking Christian region, The countries of Latin America are heirs to the legacies of Greece and Rome as much as the rest of the European continent.
Why is it not considered western then? Because of economics, politics, and Amerindian and African influences.
The Background music is a baroque period sonata composed by the Brazilian organist Emerico Lobo de Mesquita. That’s right a Brazilian, not a European.
