🇱🇧 Seven days inside a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon | Al Jazeera English
In early 2018, a researcher at the Palestinian Return Centre in London, Pietro Stefanini, attends a conference where he sees a video by a young Palestinian man. In it, Ahmed Shehadeh speaks passionately about the 70-year ordeal he feels his family has faced living stateless in Lebanon.
"I challenge anyone to stay in a refugee camp," he says, "not for 70 years, because we were forced out of Palestine 70 years ago, but for just seven days".
Inspired by Ahmed's challenge, Pietro takes time out from his day job and travels to the Burj al-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut, a long-established shanty-like community where around 50,000 Palestinian refugees live - without Lebanese citizenship.
This film documents Pietro's stay, from meeting Ahmed at the camp entrance until he departs the alleyways...

Israeli raid forces thousands to flee Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin
Thousands of Palestinians have fled the Jenin refugee camp following a major Israeli raid in the West Bank, a Palestinian official said.
About 3,000 people had left their homes since the start of the operation in the early hours of Monday morning, Kamal Abu al-Roub, the Jenin deputy governor, told the AFP news agency.
Arrangements were being made to house them in schools and other shelters elsewhere in the city of Jenin, he added.
Mr Roub’s remarks came as Israel said it was close to completing its operation in Jenin, which marked the fiercest fighting in the city in more than two decades.

At least six people have been killed and seven others wounded in clashes in Lebanon’s largest Palestinian refugee camp near the southern port city of Sidon, Palestinian officials said.
The Palestinian faction Fatah in a statement on Sunday confirmed the death of commander Ashraf al-Armouchi and four of his “comrades” during a “heinous operation”.
The statement denounced an “abominable and cowardly crime” aimed at undermining the “security and stability” of the Palestinian camps in Lebanon.
Palestinian officials, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations, said the fighting broke out in Ein el-Hilweh camp after an unknown gunman tried to assassinate armed group member Mahmoud Khalil, killing a companion of his instead, The Associated Press news agency reported.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) put the death toll at six, and Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said two children were among those wounded.
the camp is home to some 55,000 people.
