The Pahlavis came to power after Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last ruler of the Qajar dynasty, proved unable to stop British and Soviet encroachment on Iranian sovereignty, had his position extremely weakened by a military coup, and was removed from power by the parliament while in France. The National Assembly, known as the Majlis, convening as a Constituent Assembly on 12 December 1925, deposed the young Ahmad Shah Qajar, and declared Reza Shah the new monarch of the Imperial State of Persia. In 1935, Reza Shah instructed foreign embassies to call Persia by its ancient name, Iran, so the official name became the Imperial State of Iran (Persian:کشور شاهنشاهی ایرانKeshvar-e Shāhanshāhi-ye Irān) since then.

Pahlavi Visit to Israel Stirs Hope for New Era in Iran, Middle East
JERUSALEM, Israel – An amazing revelation unfolded in Israel this week: that Iran could potentially see a radical change in government.
On a stop in Tel Aviv during his first trip to Israel, the son of Iran's former Shah, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, told journalists it wouldn't take foreign armies to overthrow the Tehran regime, just international support from key nations.
"I have often argued that the threat is not the gun, but the 'finger on the trigger,' Pahlavi said, rejecting the idea advanced in Washington that as Iran inches closer to a nuclear weapon and Israel considers a possible military strike, the international community can negotiate its way out of the threat.

Decadence and Downfall In Iran: The Greatest Party In History | Real Stories
In 1971, the Shah of Iran, the self-proclaimed 'king of kings', celebrated 2,500 years of the Persian monarchy by throwing the greatest party in history. Money was no object - a lavish tent city, using 37km of silk, was erected in a specially created oasis. The world's top restaurant at the time, Maxim's, closed its doors for two weeks to cater the event, a five-course banquet served to over sixty of the world's kings, queens and presidents, and washed down with some of the rarest wines known to man.
Over a decadent five-day period, guests were treated to a pageant of thousands of soldiers dressed in ancient Persian costume, a 'son et lumiere' at the foot of Darius the Great's temple, and the opening of the Azadi Tower in Tehran, designed to honour the Shah himself.

Every party leaves a few hangovers. This one left a country reeling, never to recover. It crystallised the opposition, led by the Ayatollah Khomeini. More than any other event, this party marked the break between the king of kings and the people of Iran he reigned over. A Storyville documentary.

Ali Reza Pahlavi was the youngest son of Iran's last emperor, who fled the country with his family in 1979. The young prince lived in exile and missed his homeland very much. At 44, he tragically passed away. What was the real cause of his death? And what does his only daughter look like today, who was born after his death and never saw her father?

The Pahlavi Dynasty that ruled from 1925 to 1979 was an interesting time in Iran’s history, it brought a lot of new reforms and welcome change to Iran but as we know today, Iran is not what it use to be.

Last night a millions stars Smiled down on me Soft breeze has kissed my cheek So tenderly One magic night when dreams come true Last night was made for love, but where were you? And though the whispering breeze Had cast a spell It seemed the earth stood still To late as well No cloud could hide the moon from view Last night was made for love, but where were you? Were you watching that same ol moon? In some other fellas arms? Was he hypnotised with all your many charms I know therell never be another time Another magic night to make you mine Its gone forever set the tune Last night was made for love, but where you? Its gone forever sad but true Last night was made for love, but where you?
