Taking an entity linking model from MVP into production in a spaCy-native pipeline architecture posed several data science and engineering challenges, such as hyperparameter estimation and knowledge enhancement, which we addressed by taking advantage of the engineering tools Docker and Kubernetes to semi-automate training as an on-demand job.
We also discuss some of our learnings and process improvements that were needed to strike a balance between data science goals and engineering constraints and present our current work on improving performance through BERT-embedding based contextual similarity.

Released on the very last day of 2019, Disambiguation finds Essay Read fighting with his inner-most fears, desires, and insecurities. The album is harsh and awkward, bizarre and crunchy, just like the brains of all those who are fed up with being silenced.
What happens after the last song rolls? Does emancipation lie beyond the credits? How does one return to a life of normalcy after it has been ripped to shreds and exposed for what it really is?
This album displays Essay's frustrations with the world, including patriarchy, capitalism, censorship, and socially constructed norms that see fit to enslave our social minds with a lifetime of subordination. In addition, his own metaphysical qualms with his self-destructive tendencies play a focal role in this passionate, wet, and naked examination of a psyche that has broken so many times that it lies bare now for all to make with it what they choose.
Is he insane? Is he overreacting? Dramatic? Stupid? Or is there something of merit lined within the despondent screams of this most pained and depressed collection. All these questions are for you to disambiguate. My advice: keep an open mind.

ABSTRACT
Synonymity and homonymity make name disambiguation difficult. To ease this difficulty, I combined two unmaintained Elixir string comparison libraries and added preprocessing and a double metaphone algorithm. The result is a comprehensive map of scores for pattern identification and machine learning. This talk will address the pre-processing, algorithms, and scoring as well as the strengths and limitations. A live demonstration of scoring will allow us to identify patterns. We end with a discussion of how to gain further benefits from the scores.
OBJECTIVES:
To introduce the problem of name disambiguation and string comparison by looking at two existing string comparison libraries before addressing the process of combining them into a single repository. I hope attendees will leave understanding the problem as well as the strengths, limitations, and possibilities of the new library and how it can be used to address the challenges of name disambiguation.

Lizards are a widespread group of squamate reptiles, with over 7,000 species,[1] ranging across all continents except Antarctica, as well as most oceanic island chains. The group is paraphyletic since it excludes the snakes and Amphisbaenia although some lizards are more closely related to these two excluded groups than they are to other lizards. Lizards range in size from chameleons and geckos a few centimeters long to the 3-meter-long Komodo dragon.
Aside from legless lizards, most lizards are quadrupedal and move using gaits with the alternating movement of the right and left limbs with substantial body bending. This body bending prevents significant respiration during movement, limiting their endurance, in a mechanism called Carrier's constraint. Several species can run bipedally,[10] and a few can prop themselves up on their hindlimbs and tail while stationary. Several small species such as those in the genus Draco can glide: some can attain a distance of 60 meters (200 feet), losing 10 meters (33 feet) in height.[11] Some species, like geckos and chameleons, adhere to vertical surfaces including glass and ceilings.[9] Some species, like the common basilisk, can run across water.[12]
Lizards make use of their senses of sight, touch, olfaction, and hearing like other vertebrates. The balance of these varies with the habitat of different species; for instance, skinks that live largely covered by loose soil rely heavily on olfaction and touch, while geckos depend largely on an acute vision for their ability to hunt and to evaluate the distance to their prey before striking. Monitor lizards who have acute vision, hearing, and olfactory senses. Some lizards make unusual use of their sense organs: chameleons can steer their eyes in different directions, sometimes providing non-overlapping fields of view, such as forwards and backward at once. Lizards lack external ears, having instead a circular opening in which the tympanic membrane (eardrum) can be seen. Many species rely on hearing for early warning of predators and flee at the slightest sound.[13]
Nile monitor using its tongue to smell
As in snakes and many mammals, all lizards have a specialized olfactory system, the vomeronasal organ, used to detect pheromones. Monitor lizards transfer scent from the tip of their tongue to the organ; the tongue is used only for this information-gathering purpose and is not involved in manipulating food.[14][13]
Skeleton of bearded dragon (pogona sp.) on display at the Museum of Osteology.
Some lizards, particularly iguanas, have retained a photosensory organ on the top of their heads called the parietal eye, a basal ("primitive") feature also present in the tuatara. This "eye" has only a rudimentary retina and lens and cannot form images, but is sensitive to changes in light and dark and can detect movement. This helps them detect predators stalking it from above.
