Who Dares, Wins (Latin: Qui audet adipiscitur; French:Qui ose gagne; Italian:Chi osa vince; Portuguese: Quem se atreve, ganha; German: Wer wagt, gewinnt) is a motto made popular by the British Special Air Service. It is normally credited to the founder of the SAS, David Stirling. Among the SAS themselves it is sometimes humorously corrupted to "Who cares [who] wins?". May have a much earlier attribution from a medieval Arabic source recently translated:
The motto has been used by twelve elite special forces units around the world that in some way have historical ties to the British SAS.
An early statement of the idea is 'τοῖς τολμῶσιν ἡ τύχη ξύμφορος' ("fortune favours the bold") from the Ancient Greek soldier and historian Thucydides.
Two teams of strangers are paired up. Both teams sit in soundproof pods. When the pods are blue they can hear what is happening. When the pod is red they cannot hear what is happening.
The list subject is read out and then the host turns one pod red. The other team then make a bid on how many right answers they can give. Their pod turns red and their opponents can either increase the bid or dare them to play. This process continues until one team is dared.
If the bidders make their bid then they win the list. If they make a mistake then their opponents win the list. The first team to win two lists play for the money.
If both teams win a list then a penalty shootout tiebreaker is played. The sound remains on in the pods. The host reads out the subject for the round. The first team gives an answer and if it is on the list then the opponents have to answer correctly or they lose. If the first team give a wrong answer then their opponents will win with a correct response.
The plot is largely inspired by the Iranian Embassy siege of 1980, where the United Kingdom's SAS special forces dramatically stormed the building to rescue those being held hostage inside. Euan Lloyd, the film's producer, got the idea for the film after watching live television coverage of the event, but he had to move quickly to prevent the idea being taken by somebody else. An initial synopsis was created by George Markstein. This was then turned into a novel by James Follett as The Tiptoe Boys, in thirty days. Meanwhile, chapter-by-chapter as the novel was completed, it was posted to Reginald Rose in Los Angeles, who wrote the final screenplay.
Plot
A demonstration by unilateral nuclear disarmament protesters (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) in London is interrupted when one of the protesters is violently killed. British security forces learn that a militant group attached to CND has been planning a significant act of terrorism for the near future. The person killed during the protest demonstration was an undercover intelligence officer who had infiltrated the terrorists. The Commanding Officer of the Special Air Service, Colonel Hadley, suggests a new line of inquiry for the investigation.

Why do you look for answers in the extremes? Forget the radical ‘cause the truth is mostly somewhere in between Nevermind the simple minded as long their heart beats in the right place, but for heaven's sake if they forgot their aims (and to tell their kids) Now they are trapped and they don't even care still they don't understand what it means dimborn they never have learned anything they are trapped in a world reigned in fear Who dares to stop these fools? We need revolution - someone has to change the crusted rites but we need heads that can think before they act ‘cause it has to happen in a way that changes the conditions for the better There's no time for old mistakes Now they are trapped... Who dares to stop these fools? Brutality is trendy, discussing's for old farts Today the cracked voice of youth screams out the fatal fascists call All the mindless, unwanted, frustrated think that there's a way to bring sense in their life They confuse the Free with lemmings... Now they are trapped...
