Blood & Oil is an American prime time television soap opera created by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne, that premiered on ABC September 27, 2015. The series follows a young couple that moves to fictitious Rock Springs, North Dakota, after the biggest oil discovery in American history.
The series features an ensemble cast headed by Don Johnson as oil tycoon Harlan "Hap" Briggs. Blood & Oil also stars Amber Valletta as his catty socialite wife, Carla; Scott Michael Foster as his villainous son Wick; and Miranda Rae Mayo as his illegitimate biracial daughter Lacey who has an affair with Hap's personal driver, AJ Menendez (Adan Canto), who leads a triple life. Chace Crawford and Rebecca Rittenhouse play young couple Billy and Cody LeFever, while India de Beaufort plays bar owner/loan shark Jules Jackman, and Delroy Lindo plays a sly sheriff, Tip Harrison.
The original order of 13 episodes was reduced to 10 on October 23, 2015.
Production
Development
The project was written by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne, with Tony Krantz as executive producer. In September 2011, ABC bought the script (then titled The Bakken) along with several other projects by Krantz, but did not order a pilot for the 2012–13 television season. In October 2014, the project moved to the USA Network under the title Boom and would be produced by ABC, but was never filmed.
Louis Claude Marie Richard (September 19, 1754 – June 6, 1821) was a Frenchbotanist and botanical illustrator.
Richard was born at Versailles. Between 1781 and 1789 he collected botanical specimens in Central America and the West Indies. On his return he became a professor at the École de médecine in Paris.
His books included Demonstrations botaniques (1808), De Orchideis europaeis (1817), Commentatio botanica de Conifereis et Cycadeis (1826) and De Musaceis commentatio botanica (1831).
He gave us the special description terminology for the orchids, such as pollinium and gynostemium.
Independence is a condition of a nation, country, or state in which its residents and population, or some portion thereof, exercise self-government, and usually sovereignty, over the territory. The opposite of independence is a dependent territory. Independence does not necessarily mean freedom.
Whether the attainment of independence is different from revolution has long been contested, and has often been debated over the question of violence as a legitimate means to achieving sovereignty. While some revolutions seek and achieve national independence, others aim only to redistribute power — with or without an element of emancipation, such as in democratization—within a state, which as such may remain unaltered. Nation-states have been granted independence without any revolutionary acts. The Russian October Revolution, for example, was not intended to seek national independence (though it merely transformed government for much of the former Russian Empire, it did result in independence for Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia). However, the American Revolutionary War was intended to achieve independence from the beginning.
Independence is a town in Grayson County, Virginia, United States. The population was 947 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Grayson County. Independence is home to a major town celebration on July 4 every year, held in front of the 1908 courthouse. It features bluegrass and old-time music and dance, food, crafts and a wild pony sale. The courthouse is also the location of the Mountain Foliage Festival, held in the autumn and featuring a parade, crafts, arts and music, as well as a race in which contestants use outhouses, the Grand Privy Race.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3square miles (6.1km²), all land.
Grayson County has a particularly mountainous terrain, specifically in the western half. Grayson county contains 4 of Virginia's 5 highest peaks including Pine Mountain and Whitetop Mountain.
When Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos is inaugurated for another term in office, many in the province of Cabinda are not expected to join the celebrations. The oil-rich region continues to demand its independence from Angola, claiming it is marginalized and exploited. Emilie Iob reports for VOA News from Cabinda.

Cabinda & the Ongoing Struggle for Africa's Kuwait
Separated from the rest of Angola by a narrow strip of territory belonging to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the small exclave of Cabinda sits along Africa’s South Atlantic coast. Sometimes called “the Kuwait of Africa,” Cabinda accounts for an overwhelming majority of Angolan oil reserves. And yet, while today a part of said country, there is an ongoing separatist movement spearheaded by the Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda / Frente para a Libertação do Enclave de Cabinda (FLEC), which aims to establish an independent Republic of Cabinda.
That being said, Cabinda’s history stretches back well into the 15th century - possibly even further - when the Kingdom of Kongo held sway over the region. In time, Portugal and other European countries supplanted Kongo, absorb...

In time, Portugal and other European countries supplanted Kongo, absorbing the kingdoms of Ngoyo, Loango, and Kakongo that roughly correspond with modern Cabinda. It then became a part of the vast Portuguese Colonial Empire, alongside other territories, which included Portuguese West Africa (aka Angola). Later caught up in the Angolan War of Independence, Cabinda eventually saw itself attached to the newly independent country, despite a violent insurgency by FLEC and other groups. While negotiations with the Cabinda Forum for Dialogue seemingly ended the Cabinda War, the 2010 Togo national football team bus attack proved otherwise and a "low-intensity" insurgency continues to this day.

Ordinary Angolans know they're being ripped off by their leaders. They're seething with resentment. In the Angolan enclave of Cabinda, this discontent has fuelled a separatist movement which has been fighting for years. With more and more Angolans asking awkward questions, there's a risk the country will collapse into anarchy again if the corruption problem isn't addressed.

From the modern war in Angola, we know the confrontations between the Government troops and those of UNITA. However, the most deadly fights which are blood-staining the land of Angola are now being fought between people of Angola and of… Cabinda.

Luanda says "Cabinda belongs to us"; to the inhabitants of Cabinda the slogan "Angola belongs to us" is similar to the one Salazar used on his speeches.
The conditions leading to confrontations are created - Luanda sends thousands of soldiers to Cabinda and Cabinda replies with the old and traditional sentence "Independence or death". This is a coverage concerning a war spoken in Portuguese and to which Portugal’s arbitration is being asked by the people of Cabinda.

Deep in Luanda's sewers, a group of boys show us around their home. "I'm desperate for help," begs one. "I'm eating rubbish, surrounded by others who are sniffing glue." According to the latest calculations, 9% of the country's GDP is siphoned off. Even the US ambassador admits that oil revenues are not going to "the Angolan people." Ordinary Angolans know they're being ripped off by their leaders. They're seething with resentment. In the Angolan enclave of Cabinda, this discontent has fuelled a separatist movement which has been fighting for years. With more and more Angolans asking awkward questions, there's a risk the country will collapse into anarchy again if the corruption problem isn't addressed.

Mentorn – Ref. 2543
From the modern war in Angola, we know the confrontations between the Government troops and those of UNITA. However, the most deadly fights which are blood-staining the land of Angola are now being fought between people of Angola and of… Cabinda.
For the first time a coverage team has been allowed to join the FLEC-FLAC guerrillas, letting the world know a mostly forgotten war that has been fought over 20 years within the African land.
"Cabinda - Independence or death" is a coverage made by the journalist José Manuel Silva.
Joint Production of the Cabinda Republic & RTP
