North Queensland or the Northern Region is the northern part of the state of Queensland in Australia that lies just south of Far North Queensland. Queensland is a massive state, larger than many countries, and the tropical northern part of it has been historically remote and undeveloped, resulting in a distinctive regional character and identity.
Townsville is the largest urban centre in North Queensland, leading it to be regarded as an unofficial capital. The region has a population of 231,628 and covers 80,041.5km2 (30,904.2sqmi).
Geography
There is no official boundary that separates North Queensland from the rest of the state. Unofficially it is usually considered to have a southern border beginning south of the Mackay Region southern boundary, but historically it has been as far south as Rockhampton. To the north is the Far North Queensland region, centred on Cairns and out west is the Gulf Country.
A coastal region centred on its largest settlement is the city of Townsville. The city is the location of a major seaport handling exports from mines in Mount Isa and cattle exports from coastal and inland areas. The region also contains a bulk sugar exporting terminal at Lucinda in the region's north. Mackay is Australia's sugar capital and produces the most sugar in Australia and is shipped at Mackay Harbour. Mackay is also one of Australia's biggest coal exporters as it is close to Queensland's major mines. Dalrymple Bay, south of Mackay is another port where coal and sugar is exported. It also contains the inland city of Charters Towers and the coastal towns of Ayr and Ingham.
Queensland (abbreviated as Qld) is the second-largest and third-most-populous state in Australia. Situated in the north-east of the country, it is bordered by the Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales to the west, south-west and south respectively. To the east, Queensland is bordered by the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean. Queensland has a population of 4,750,500, concentrated along the coast and particularly in the state's South East. The state is the world's sixth largest sub-national entity, with an area of 1,852,642km2. The capital and largest city in the state is Brisbane, Australia's third largest city. Often referred to as the "Sunshine State", Queensland is home to 10 of Australia's 30 largest cities and is the nation's third largest economy.
Doug is a factory worker living in Melbourne who dreams of moving from Melbourne to Queensland. He attempts to reconnect with an old flame, Marge, and move to Queensland together.
John Ruane says he was inspired by a newspaper article about a slaughter man who killed his de facto wife and then got drunk for two days. He decided to remove the killing aspect, concentrate on the relationship. Ruane:
The film was made with money from the Experimental Film and Television Fund while John Ruane was a film student at the Swinburne College of Technology in Melbourne.
Release
The movie was released through the co-operative movement.

This week in our full time travels around australia we take our Next Gen Ford Ranger and Roadstar caravan to the cassowary coast. On our way we check out 5 mile creek for a dog friendly swim, pick up some pineapples and bananas then head into Mission beach. We are camping at the Bali Hai caravan park which is Child Free. Alligators nest is a swimming creek just out of tully that we stop in for a refreshing cool off before moving north to Cowley Beach.
Cowley beach we stop in for a night and its a beautiful Beachfront camp, we try our luck fishing but of course no luck.

Cairns is the gateway to the great barrier reef, and if you love the outdoors and nature, there are so many things to do in Cairns! even when it is raining, just a list of beautiful places and things near by to start are one of the many island's that the surrounding areas of Far North Queensland offer.

My personal favourites though are Hinchinbrook island and the Barnard island group or Dunk Island family group, these island's. The Barnard island group is only accessible by private boats or you could even kayak there.
Don't forget all the amazing waterfalls in Cairns and at least but not least the Daintree rainforrest!
This is why you should see Queensland and all it has to offer.
I am not endorsed or sponsored by anyone, I make and film these video's just for fun.

Hey everyone!
Down at South mission beach is the Kennedy walking track, while we also head into some stinger nets to cool off after a morning walk. Alligators nest is a swimming creek just out of tully that we stop in for a refreshing cool off before moving north to Cowley Beach.
Cowley beach we stop in for a night and its a beautiful Beachfront camp, we try our luck fishing but of course no luck.
Cairns is the next stop, straight to the coconut palms caravan park with Chelsea's first demand a trip to Sushi Train.

Human remains have been found inside a crocodile during the search for a missing man in Far North Queensland.
The 40-year-old New South Wales tourist was dragged underwater by a crocodile in Cooktown on Saturday.
The 4.9 meter reptile believed to be responsible was euthanised by wildlife rangers.
The remains are believed to be those of the missing man.
The search and rescue operation has been suspended.

Isolated showers are more likely for Melbourne and Sydney, while 'severe thunderstorms' - with heavy rain, flash flooding and damaging winds - are set to lash central Australia, south-east Queensland and north-east NSW.
Though heat conditions were easing in south-east Queensland, BoM senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said conditions across the north of the country would “linger” into next week.
