The Importance of Nonverbal Cues as told by "Friends"
The constant miscommunication that occurs online is a direct result of the absence of nonverbal cues, not able to translate across a computer screen. "Friends" is the perfect example of how important these nonverbal cues can be in the interpretation of messages. Also, "Friends" goes to show that face-to-face communication is a much better alternative over digital communication in ensuring proper communication.

Nonverbal Communication - Intro
Imagine waking one day, you can't speak or write. If you do so, you will die. Then, what will you do to communicate with others on a daily basic?
In this video, Jack McCall, played by Eddie Murphy, finds an unusual tree in his yard after an encounter with a spiritual guru. After discovering that with each word he speaks or writes, a leaf drops off of the tree, Jack refuses to speak at all, as doing so will keep the tree, and him, alive. He now just entered Starbucks and tries to order a coffee without saying a word or writing anything down.

In this video I discussed nonverbal communication, its type, and importance.
Non-verbal communication refers to the process of conveying information, feelings, and messages without using words. It encompasses gestures, facial expressions, body language, and even our tone of voice. It's the unspoken language that often speaks louder than words.
It is a universal language. Many non-verbal cues, like smiles denoting happiness or crossed arms signaling defensiveness, are understood across cultures. This universal understanding makes non-verbal communication a powerful tool for bridging language gaps and fostering connections in diverse settings.

Nonverbal Communication - Regulating Conversation
We use a lot of nonverbal regulators such as hand gestures, eye contact, changing the tone of voice, etc together with language to communicate with others.
In this video, a very cool looking guy comes up and talks to two girls at a bar. While talking to them, he keeps making eye contact (gaze window). When he wants the Asian girl to answer him, he tilts his head toward her. He also keeps raising his voice at the end of his many questions, then stops for a little bit suggesting that he wants the other side to answer his questions (regulating the conversation).

Hi guys, welcome to educationleaves skills.
Non-verbal cues often add depth and context to spoken words. They can emphasize or contradict verbal messages. For instance, a speaker's confident posture and gestures can reinforce the credibility of their words, while a nervous tone may undermine their message.
Also, non-verbal communication is essential for expressing emotions and building relationships. It allows us to share our feelings genuinely, facilitating empathy and connection. In personal and professional settings, being attuned to non-verbal cues can lead to more effective communication, improved relationships, and better overall understanding between individuals.
