The territory was divided into colonies, each with its own administration: Canada, Acadia, Newfoundland(Plaisance), and Louisiana. The Treaty of Utrecht resulted in the relinquishing of French claims to mainland Acadia, the Hudson Bay and Newfoundland, and the establishment of the colony of Île Royale, now called Cape Breton Island, where the French built the Fortress of Louisbourg. Acadia had a difficult history, with the Great Upheaval, remembered on July 28 each year since 2003. The descendants are dispersed in the Maritime Provinces of Canada, in Maine and Louisiana in the United States, with small populations in Chéticamp, Nova Scotia and the Magdalen Islands.
Taking its name from the Township of Digby , which had been named in honour of Rear Admiral Robert Digby who dispatched HMS Atalanta to convey loyalists from New York City in the spring of 1783 to Conway, which became known as Digby, Digby County was established in 1837. Previously, from August 17, 1759, when Nova Scotia was first divided into counties, this area had been part of Annapolis County.
In European elections, France was a constituency of the European Parliament. It was replaced by subdivided constituencies in 2004. The boundaries of this constituency were the same as the member state of France. Its MEPs can be found in MEPs representing the French constituencies before 2004

French Colonization of North America (New France Colonial America APUSH) @TomRichey
http:www.tomrichey.net
The French colonized Canada and Louisiana, together known as "New France," in the 17th century under the watchful eye of Louis XIV. Of all of the European colonial powers, the French cultivated the best relationship with Native Americans, sending few colonists and enlisting the Natives as allies and partners in the fur trade.

▶ In this video I talk about how France lost North America. New France, the french colony, once occupied a significant part of what are today the United States and Canada. Through their initial colony in Quebec, they expanded further through conquest and colonization; for instance against the Iroquois who they faced along with other native allies. After fully establishing themselves in Northern Canada, they expanded South and West into what became known as 'Louisiana'. Many of these territories...

This video is brought to you by: https://www.disneyplus.com/en-gb/browse/page-97e41a96-dcbc-4fa1-9703-fe06faa6740d
After nearly 500 years, French is still the official language of this North American city. How has this UNESCO World Heritage Site retained its 'Frenchness' after all this time? Why does the Château Frontenac hotel look like a French castle, and what does it have to do with the Canadian railway? What's so curious about Rue Saint-Jean, Place Royal, and Petit-Champlain?

Many of these territories were then lost to the British through various wars. In 1713, the Peace of Utrecht that followed the Spanish War of Succession took away Newfoundland and Rupert's land. Later, in 1763, the Peace of Paris that followed the Seven Years War / French and Indian War saw France accept British control over Iroquois territories, as well as ceding all remaining French Canadian territories to them. In addition, all territories West of the Mississippi river were ceded to both the British and Spanish, with Louisiana itself being given to Spain as well. Later, Napoleon attempted to rebuild a French North American Empire, recovering Louisiana from Spain but quickly realizing this endeavour was a mistake. A successful revolution in Haiti and the prospect of another with the British led Napoleon to sell the entire territory to the United States for a mere $15 million dollars, even though the initial American offer was only to purchase New Orleans for $10 million. With this, French presence in North America went from about a third of the continent, to a couple of very small islands off the coast of Canada - Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

DIGBY NOVA SCOTIA - How to Spend the Perfect Day in the Scallop Capital of the World!
A DELICIOUS DAY IN DIGBY!
Taking advantage of beautiful weather we decided to head to Digby for the day. Just over an hour from Kentville and over two hours from Halifax, it is worth the drive.
I started with breakfast at The Sea Biscuit Cafe & Eatery and discovered bacon dipped in jam is SO GOOD. Then we drove 8 minutes out to Point Prim, which has beautiful views of Digby Gut and would be fantastic for a picnic lunch.
We moved onto Carla's Take Out & Seafood Market for decadent scallops and I tried rapure for the first time! It just opened in June and it is already a fantastic spot for food. Head next door and can buy seafood from Adrian, who is very particular about quality, ensuring they only serve the best.
Then of course I needed to head to Guy's Frenchys, which I think is a MU...

Digby, Nova Scotia: My Top Things To Do & See
Even if you’ve never been to the small seaside town of Digby, there’s a decent chance your taste buds have. It’s a gateway to Nova Scotia’s Bay of Fundy—home to the famous Digby scallops served in restaurants around the world. From its ageless fishing industry to its landmark buildings, history is very much alive in Digby, and there’s no time like the present to visit. In this video, we show you a few highlights for the ideal itinerary, starting at the Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa, the crown jewel of Digby’s accommodations. The resort was built in 1929 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, as evident by it’s grandiose look and castle like building that offers an incredible waterfront view that can best be enjoyed at the outdoor pool.

Best Seafood in Canada? 🤔 We saw Whales & Dolphins in Digby Nova Scotia + Digby Pines Resort Tour
Eating Nova Scotia Seafood! In this week’s video (and upcoming videos) we’ve teamed up with Tourism Nova Scotia to explore the Digby Area and the Annapolis Valley in western Nova Scotia, Canada. Digby is famous for both scallops and whale watching, so in this video we’ll be doing both!
We start off at Fundy Restaurant on the Digby Waterfront to try World Famous Digby scallops and fish and chips. We got a sampler of the scallops which had a few different types (bacon wrapped, garlic and butter, and panko crusted).
The next day we drove down Digby Neck to go whale watching with Petit Passage Whale Tours. During our afternoon tour we saw a whole bunch of Atlantic White Sided Dolphins and Humpback Whales. It was an experience we will never forget!

Day Trips from Digby, Nova Scotia
When Digby, Nova Scotia is your hub, and you've eaten all the scallops, it's time for more adventures.
Here's three great day trips:
Brier Island: 1 hour 45 minutes from Digby
Take a Brier Island whale watching and seabird cruise and spot endangered or rare species of whales like the humpback, finback and right whales, as well as other species of cetaceans (dolphins and porpoises) and seabirds.

Bear River: 17 minutes from Digby
Bear River is a storybook village on stilts, where the Bay of Fundy tides rise and fall daily, swelling an otherwise shallow river. Visit the kiosk in the village to learn about Bear River’s culture and history, including Bear River First Nations, shipbuilding and lumbering heritag...

Then of course I needed to head to Guy's Frenchys, which I think is a MUST when you're in Digby.
And we could not leave without heading to Ed’s Take Out, which was recently renovated inside and has so much more space! I love the family photos as well as Mi'maq information. I have eaten here many times and did not know it was a Black Indigenous business in Nova Scotia.
Although I know there are so many more places to eat we had to head home. But it's such an easy drive I know I'll be back so please let me know what else I should see and do in Digby!
I'm a Canadian travel blogger at home for the summer and autumn. But I'm making the most of my time by traveling Atlantic Canada.
This video is in partnership with Nova Scotia Tourism Association to inspire local travel in the wonderful towns in we often overlook.

Quebec used to be a French colony which the British won in 1763. Yet, despite numerous wars after that, France made no attempt to take it back and today it's a part of Canada? But why not? Why didn't France try to retake to Quebec?

This feature documentary addresses the struggle between New England and New France, from the first uneasy contacts to the culminating conflicts. The economic battle between the St. Lawrence trade system and that of the Atlantic-Hudson is also explored.

In Digby, you’re never far from great scallops, or Nova Scotia’s premier attractions! You can take day trips to Brier Island for lighthouses and whale watching, Bear River to explore a village on stilts, and Annapolis Royal for historical fun.

Lastly we give you a quick tour of the Digby Pines Resort, where we stayed during our time in the Digby Area.
