In 1798, John Carlysle Stewart, a civil engineer, traveled to western Pennsylvania to resurvey the "donation lands" resurveyed lands, which had been reserved for veterans of the Revolutionary War. He discovered that the original survey had neglected to stake out approximately 50 acres (200,000m2) at the confluence of the Shenango River and the Neshannock Creek, at that time a part of Allegheny County. Claiming the land for himself, he laid out what was to become the town of New Castle. Stewart laid out the town of New Castle in April 1798. It comprised approximately 50 acres (200,000m2), in what was then part of Allegheny County. New Castle became a borough in 1825, having a population of about 300. The city later became a part of Mercer County. On April 5, 1849, the Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania signed an act creating Lawrence County named in honor of U.S. Navy Captain James Lawrence. New Castle became a city in 1869 and was headed by its first Mayor, Thomas B. Morgan. At that time, the population had increased to about 6,000.
New Castle is a city in Henry County, Indiana, 44 miles (71km) east-northeast of Indianapolis, on the Big Blue River. In 1900, 3,406 people lived in the town; in 1910, 9,446; in 1920, 14,458; and in 1940, 16,620. The population was 18,114 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Henry County. New Castle is home to New Castle Fieldhouse, the largest high school gymnasium in the world.
The city is surrounded by agricultural land. In the past, it was a manufacturing center for the production of sheet iron and steel, automobiles, caskets, clothing, scales, bridges, pianos, furniture, handles, shovels, lathes, bricks, and flour.
New Castle was platted in 1823, and named after New Castle, Kentucky. A post office was established at New Castle in 1823.
The Maxwell Automobile Factory, later owned and operated by Chrysler Motor Corp. was, at the time of construction in the first part of the 20th century, the largest automotive manufacturing plant in the world.
The New Castle (Neues Schloss) is a nineteenth century palace in Hechingen in Germany. It served as the city residence for princes of the House of Hohenzollern-Hechingen.
History
The first building on the site was a Renaissance-style residence built by Eitel Frederick IV, Count of Hohenzollern in the late 16th century. Apart from a few minor remnants, it was demolished by Friedrich Hermann Otto at the start of the 19th century to make way for the three-wing present structure, built between 1818 and 1819, designed by Rudolf Burnitz and funded by French reparations from the Congress of Vienna. Burnitz was a pupil of Friedrich Weinbrenner, a leading neo-classical architect in the Grand Duchy of Baden. The castle remained unfinished, since the principality was in debt and the funds for its construction ran out.

Pennsylvania wine refers to wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The climate in Pennsylvania is mild compared to surrounding states, with the moderating effects of Lake Erie to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. 119 wineries are located in all parts of the state, including five designated American Viticultural Areas. Pennsylvania is the eighth-largest wine producing state in the country.
There were 21 drivers on the grid; all of them were American-born males. Frank Tanner received the last-place finish due to an oil pressure issue on lap 2 out of the 200 laps that made up the regulation length of the race. There were only two lead changes; David Pearson managed to defeat Richard Petty by 11 seconds in only one hour and twelve minutes. While Pearson achieved a pole position with a speed of 86.289 miles per hour (138.869km/h), the average speed of the race was only 82.586 miles per hour (132.909km/h).Bob Welborn would retire from NASCAR after this race; having gone winless since the 1959 Western North Carolina 500.
Wendell Scott managed to charge ahead from a disappointing 21st place to a respectable fourth place during the course of the race.
The race car drivers still had to commute to the races using the same stock cars that competed in a typical weekend's race through a policy of homologation (and under their own power). This policy was in effect until roughly 1975. By 1980, NASCAR had completely stopped tracking the year model of all the vehicles and most teams did not take stock cars to the track under their own power anymore.
It took three hours fifty-seven minutes to complete. Juan Pablo Montoya was humbly given a second-place finish by being .869 seconds slower than Hamlin. Eight drivers failed to finish the race; including last-place finisher Mike Wallace who parked his car on lap 13. Derrike Cope's vehicle was too slow to qualify for the race. Previous-day rain forced a competition caution on lap 22; most other yellow flags after this one were mainly for debris or accidents. Nearly 20% of the race was held under the caution flag; with a green flag run lasting an average of nearly 15 laps.
