The National Youth League is an Australian national association football youth developmental and reserve league, run by Football Federation Australia. The National Youth League was established as a successor to the competition of the same name and commenced in August 2008. The league runs in conjunction with the A-League as a developmental/reserve league. It is currently contested by ten teams, nine of which compete in the A-League, the other, the Australian Institute of Sport. Seasons currently run from October to March.
The league is currently sponsored by Foxtel and thus officially known as the Foxtel National Youth League.
The current league was announced by Football Federation Australia at the start of March 2008. It was set up in conjunction with the A-League in order to continue to develop young Australian talent into the league as well as into the Australian national team and its affiliates such as the under 17, under 20 and under 23 teams. The league's inaugural season was made up of seven teams, each linked to the corresponding Australian club in the A-League (excluding Wellington Phoenix) and had strong links to players training at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). The 2009–10 season saw the addition of Gold Coast United and a team from the Australian Institute of Sport Football Program. In the 2012–13 season, Gold Coast United were replaced by Western Sydney Wanderers. All players in the youth teams are between the ages of 16 and 21 as of the start of the calendar year for each new season, while four over-age players from each of the senior teams are also allowed to be selected.
The Indian National League (INL) is a secular-based political party in India, mainly active in the states of KeralaTamil Nadu Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Bihar. INL is a political party and its workers are mainly from Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)in Kerala . The party was formed on April 23, 1994, when Ibrahim Sulaiman Sait was resigned from IUML. Over 700 delegates, especially invited in view of their eminent stature in society, from over 14 states, converged in the Indian capital of New Delhi for the Indian Muslim political convention at Aiwane Ghalib Hall. This truly representative body resolved to adopt the recommendations of a high powered committee, consisting of 25 eminent leaders to launch a new secular, democratic and national party, named the Indian National League. This political party has been open to all citizens of India who sincerely adhere to the constitutional creed of secularism. The principles include unity and integrity of India, the rule of law, and equal respect to people belonging to different religions, classes, back grounds, regions, languages, and identities. The primary thrust of policies of the party would be to protect and preserve the identity, dignity, life, and property of all Indians especially the underprivileged. The party has made efforts towards drawing individuals, from all levels of society, into the national mainstream towards fuller participation in the process of national rebuilding and reconciliation. This secular party will fight against bigoted and communal forces and will not tolerate the desecration of any temple, mosque, gurudwara, or church, nor will it permit interference in the personal faith or religious affairs of any community.
The National Youth League (NYL), was an Australian national soccer league run in parallel to the National Soccer League (NSL) between 1984 and 2004. The aim of the league was to provide a pathway for young players to play regular high-level football, and allow reserve players from senior NSL teams to remain match fit. The league was founded in 1984, alongside the simultaneous expansion of the senior competition. The league later followed the NSL's move to summer competition during the switch to summer play in 1989.
The competition was split into Northern and Southern divisions, with the winners of each division playing off in a grand final to decide the national champion. The Southern division included teams mostly from Victoria, but also sides from South Australia. The Northern division contained teams from the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Queensland. Teams were drawn from NSL clubs, state league clubs, regional representative sides as well as the programs of the various state-run sports institutes, such as the Australian Institute of Sport's Football Program. The competition ceased operation in 2004, at the same time the NSL ended. While the A-League replaced the NSL in 2005, after a season's recess, the NYL was not succeeded by the A-League National Youth League until 2008.
In the song, the character Derek (who is featured in the story line of Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire)) attempts to convince his father, Arthur, of the great opportunities available in Australia, where there's "no drug addiction" and you can "surf like they do in the U.S.A." Derek's advertisement is compared to John Smith, who campaigned for America in a similar manner, by author Thomas Kitts.
The song also features a jam sequence lasting for approximately half the song, which is atypical for The Kinks. In the Australian single edit, this section is removed by editing an earlier section of the song into another section during a drum beat, which is then followed by a fade-out.
Australia is a chestnut colt with a narrow white blaze bred by the Newmarket-based Stanley House stud. Australia was sired by Galileo, a Derby winner himself who went on to become an outstanding breeding stallion, winning the title of champion sire on five occasions. Galileo had sired two previous Epsom Derby winners New Approach in 2007 and Ruler of the World in 2013. Australia's Dam Ouija Board won seven Group One races including the 2004 Epsom Oaks and was twice named European Horse of the Year. He is the fourth foal produced by Ouija Board and second to Galileo, Australia's older sister Filia Regina has had limited success with only a single victory in a handicap at Yarmouth. His half brother Our Voodoo Prince won 3 races in Britain before being sold and is currently in training with Chris Waller in Australia.
