Nam June Paik & History of Video Art
Video art was established as a credible medium for artistic expression as a result of the progressive and experimental ethos of pioneers such as Naim June Paik. After seeing how society became entranced with the newly accessible technology, Paik started to use video as an artistic outlet where the television screen was his canvas and the camera his paintbrush. Those involved in avant-garde film, performance, and conceptual art accelerated the medium to point out issues of interest and express their creative desires, eventually making video art what it is today.
