NT was a digital memo recording system introduced by Sony in 1992, sometimes marketed under the name Scoopman. The system stored memos using helical scanning on special microcassettes, which were 30 × 21.5 × 5mm with a tape width of 2.5mm, with a recording capacity of up to 120 minutes. The Scoopmen cassettes are offered in three versions: The Sony NTC-60, -90, and -120, each describing the length of time (in minutes) the cassette could record.
NT stands for Non-Tracking, meaning the head moves at a shallower slope to that of the tracks on the tape, crossing several during each pass, albeit only reading partial data from each one. By making several passes it is possible to reassemble the complete data for each track, in memory. This considerably reduced the complexity and size of the head, and, therefore, the recorder.
Another feature was Non-Loading, which meant instead of having a mechanism to pull the tape out of the cassette and wrap it around the drum, the drum was pushed inside the cassette to achieve the same effect.
Cassette are an alt country/indie rock band from Wellington, New Zealand. They were formed in summer 1999-2000, and originally consisted of Tom Watson (guitar, vocals), Craig Terris (drums, vocals) and David Fraser (bass, keys and vocals). The Band was joined by Paul Trigg (guitar) of Letterbox Lambs fame after their move to Melbourne in 2001. Fraser left in 2004 to move to London (making the band a three piece again), and Paul Trigg moved to bass guitar. Cassette have released an EP (Emo in NZ in 2001, also known as the "Nothing to do" EP in Australia (2003)) and "Cut for Summer" in 2006 (thus far in NZ only).
Cassette's second full-length album "The Jingle King" was released in 2009.
The band won the South African Music Awards in the Best Rock Album category in 2007 for their debut album Welcome Back To Earth. They were also nominated for two other categories, including the Best Group category. The group was nominated for the Best Live Performer category at the 2008 MTV Africa Music Awards.

This little machine uses the smallest audio tapes ever made; the sticky rubberised surface is most easily removed; first by the application of Nail Varnish Remover ( Acetone ) and finished with NEAT "IPS", ie Isopropyl alcohol ( don't think tape cleaner will do it since it is 6:1 parts water ).
