Patricia Lee "Patti" Smith (born December 30, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, poet and visual artist who became a highly influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album Horses.
Called the "punk poet laureate", Smith fused rock and poetry in her work. Smith's most widely known song is "Because the Night", which was co-written with Bruce Springsteen. The song reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978. In 2005, Patti Smith was named a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture, and in 2007, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On November 17, 2010, she won the National Book Award for her memoir Just Kids. The book fulfilled a promise she had made to her former long-time roommate and partner, Robert Mapplethorpe. In Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 Greatest Artists published in December 2010, she was in 47th place. She is also a recipient of the 2011 Polar Music Prize.
"My Generation" is a song by the English rock band The Who, which became a hit and one of their most recognisable songs. The song was named the 11th greatest song by Rolling Stone magazine on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and 13th on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Songs of Rock & Roll. It's also part of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll and is inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for "historical, artistic and significant" value. In 2009 it was named the 37th Greatest Hard Rock Song by VH1.
The song has been said to have "encapsulated the angst of being a teenager," and has been characterized as a "nod to the mod counterculture".
The song was released as a single on 29 October 1965, reaching No. 2 in the UK, the Who's highest charting single in their home country and No. 74 in America. "My Generation" also appeared on The Who's 1965 debut album, My Generation (The Who Sings My Generation in the United States), and in greatly extended form on their live album Live at Leeds (1970). The Who re-recorded the song for the Ready Steady Who! EP in 1966, but it was not included on the EP, and this version was released only in 1995 on the remastered version of the A Quick One album. The main difference between this version and the original is that instead of the hail of feedback which ends the original, the band play a chaotic rendition of Edward Elgar's "Land of Hope and Glory." In the album's liner notes the song is credited to both Townshend and Elgar.
My Generation is the debut studio album by the English rock band The Who, released by Brunswick Records in the United Kingdom in December 1965. In the United States, it was released by Decca Records as The Who Sings My Generation in April 1966, with a different cover and a slightly altered track listing.
The album was made immediately after the Who got their first singles on the charts and according to the booklet in the Deluxe Edition, it was later dismissed by the band as something of a rush job that did not accurately represent their stage performance of the time. On the other hand, critics often rate it as one of the best rock albums of all time.
By 1965 The Who were all set after recruiting drummer Keith Moon and saw their former band name change from The Detours to The Who, after briefly being called The High Numbers. In the spring of 1965, the album was started during The Who's early "Maximum R&B" period and features cover versions of the popular R&B songs I Don't Mind and Please, Please, Please, both originally by James Brown, in addition to the R&B leanings of the tracks written by the band's guitarist Pete Townshend. Nine tracks were recorded, but several of them were rejected for Townshend originals made at new sessions that began in October.
"My Generation" is a song by American rock group Limp Bizkit. It was released in October 2000 as a single from the album Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. The song was released as the first single simultaneously with "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)".
It contains lyrical references to the songs "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses and "Move Over" by the Spice Girls, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Titanic and even Macromedia's Shockwave Flash plugin. Musically, the song displays the interplay between guitarist Wes Borland and drummer John Otto as the two's musical parts are tightly intertwined in a similar way to how the bass and drums intertwine in Primus, who have influenced Limp Bizkit and toured with them. In the intro to the song, Fred Durst makes reference to the Mathews Bridge in the band's hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, where numerous people jump off to commit suicide and people fear driving over. Guitarist Wes Borland said the song's working title was "Cum on My Shoes" in several interviews around the album's release.

Tick Tack Tick Tack, Tick Tack
Fuck The Clock
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
Now you always say,
That you want to be free.
But (you'll come runnin' back,)
Like I said you would, baby.
(You'll come runnin' back,)
Like I told you so many times befo'e.
(You'll come runnin' back to me.)
Yeah, (time is on my side), yes it is.
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
You're searchin' for good times,
But just wait and see.
(You'll come runnin' back.)
I'll take your word, darlin'.
(You'll come runnin' back.)
Like I told you so many times befo'e.
(You'll come runnin' back to me.)
Go ahead, baby, go ahead.
Go ahead and light up the town,
And baby, do everything your heart desires.
Remember, I'll always be around,
And I know, I know,
Like I told you so many times befo'e,
You're gonna come back.
Yeah, you're gonna come back, baby.
Come Back Come Back, Come Back,
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
(Time is on my side), yes it is.
'Cause I got the real love,
The kind that you need.
(You'll come runnin' back,)
I knew you would, one day.
(You'll come runnin' back,)
I told you befo'e.
(You'll come runnin' back, to me.)
Yeah, (time, time, time is on my side), yes it is.
I said, (time, time, time is on my side), yes it is.
