The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo(東京都現代美術館,Tōkyō-to Gendai Bijutsukan) is a contemporary artmuseum in Koto, Tokyo, Japan. The museum is located in Kiba Park. It was opened in 1995.
In the "Jesús F. Contreras" gallery there are art works by contemporary Mexican artists. These were rewarded works from the Young Encounter of Arts; in another gallery is the work of Enrique Guzmán Villagómez, a recognized artist whose work is expressionist in nature. In the Arts Library gallery, there are works by photographers from a variety of backgrounds and styles.
In the first floor Saturnino Herrán gallery, temporary exhibitions by recognized Mexican and international artists are exhibited.
History
The warehouse "El Número# 8" opened its doors in 1918. Since then, its location has been the corner of Morelos Street and Primo Verdad in the city of Aguascalientes. The name of the organization was decided because the rural state #8 used to be there in the street that was called Independencia, also because the new owner, José de Jesús Rábago, was born in the 8th day of the 8th month of 1888. Mr. Rábago acquire the rural state almost new due to its construction date that was in 1901.
The song entered and peaked at #4 on Swedish Trackslistan on 24 February 2007 and charted for six weeks. The song peaked at #1 on the Swedish singles chart on 22 February 2007.
"Tokyo" is a song by Englishindierock bandAthlete and is the third track on their 2007 albumBeyond the Neighbourhood. The song was released as the second single from that album on November 19, 2007 (see 2007 in British music). The song charted at #198 making it Athlete's lowest charting single to date, partly due to a lack of promotion, and partly due to UK Chart guidelines discounting sales of the EP version (thus only sales of the 7" were counted).
Built in 1995 by architect Takahiko Yanagisawa, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) is “a center for the systematic study, collection, preservation, and display of contemporary art, focusing primarily on postwar Japanese art but encompassing a wide range of subjects from both here and abroad.” The building itself is a beautiful blend of modern and traditional architectural styles. And the exhibitions are also worth visiting. Most recently they had a retrospective of the work of Eiko Ishioka, who worked as a costume designer, graphic designer, and art director over the course of her career. Gaining accolades and awards for her work with clients like Francis Ford Coppola, Miles Davis, Parco, Shiseido, and many more.
