Austria and Italy fraternally share one of Europe’s most beautiful, exciting provinces, Tyrol. South Tyrol on the Italian side is one of the favorite destinations for hikers and nature lovers, regardless of the season. I collected the most exciting destinations and the most beautiful sights:
Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks)
Lago di Braies
Taufers Castle
Piramidi di terra di Longomoso, Renon
Seceda
Chiesa di Santa Barbara
Cadini di Misurina
Chiesa di Santa Maddalena
Val di Funes
History of Tyrol:
Tyrol was part of Bavaria in the 12th century and then fell into the hands of the Habsburgs in the middle of the 14th century. The southern part was taken by Italy after the First World War and - with the exception of a small period during the Second World War - has remained Italian ever since. It has been an autonomous territory since 1972.
Due to the Italian-Austrian history, virtually every place has names in both Italian and German, and it can often change where which one is used. Because of this, you’ll find both versions of the names of each attraction, always with the Italian version first.

Welcome back to Italy! 🇮🇹 Instead of street food, we are showing you the BEST food to eat when you visit the Dolomites, in South Tyrol. This area is very close to the Austrian border, so their cuisine reflects that, which you won’t find anywhere else in Italy!
We are taking you to Seceda, an incredible mountain with breathtaking views. Many tourists come here for hiking, paragliding, skiing or retreats, but we’re here for the Tyrolean food!
To get there, you will need to take a gondola and cable car, which will take you to the most famous sightseeing spot. The ride round trip is 35 euro per person. Once you get there, you can start exploring along the many hiking trails.
📍Seceda, South Tyrol
If you hike down, you’ll find the restaurant Troier Hütte, which specializes in farm to table food. A must try is their cheese and speck board. Their speck is smoked locally and is amazing! We also had a speck dumpling soup and beers. A perfect meal after hiking around.
📍 Troier Hütte
The next day, we visited Lago di Carezza. This is just a short hike around a turquoise lake surrounded by massive mountains!
📍Lago di Carezza
We then drove to Bolzano, a beautiful city influenced by Bavarian Baroque architecture. We walked through the narrow streets and old squares to get to Franziskanerstuben for more Tyrolean food. We ordered the classic Wiener Schnitzel and Apple Strudel.
📍 Franziskanerstuben
We travelled around this region by rental car which is one of the best and most convenient ways to explore the Dolomites!

:::::::::::: Welcome to VaFeltre Tours ::::::::::::
Our trips are born out of a desire to share authentic travel experiences. We provide tailor-made journeys, designed to your interests, tastes and budget from Northern Italy to all of Europe.
VaFeltre Tours is a family-owned company based in both Northern Italy and Washington, DC. We are Professional Tour Guides, with years of experience working with a variety of ages and backgrounds. One of our main selling points is that we create itineraries based on what YOU want to see, instead of forcing you to follow a generic itinerary.

:::::::::::: About this Video: ::::::::::::
We are showing some of the places near our home where we take our clients. The places you see on thois video are:
:::::::::::: Tramin an der Weinstraße: ::::::::::::
Often abbreviated to Tramin or Termeno, is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol, northern Italy, located about 20 kilometres (12 miles) southwest of the city of Bolzano. The name of the grape variety Gewürztraminer has its origins in Tramin.
:::::::::::: St. James's Church, Kastelaz: ::::::::::::
St. James's Church (German: St. Jakob in Kastelaz) is a church on the Kastelaz hill in Tramin an der Weinstraße, South Tyrol (Italy), which is known foremost for its Romanesque frescos.
The church is sometimes mistakenly called St. Jacob's. The confusion arises because German, like many other languages, uses the same word for both James and Jacob.
:::::::::::: Lake Caldaro: ::::::::::::
Lake Caldaro belongs to the municipality of Caldaro and originates from an old riverbed of the Adige river, about 14 km in the south of the main city, which is Bolzano. Lake Caldaro is one of the largest lakes in South Tyrol. One of its main characteristics is its pleasant water temperature. Due to its minor depth of 4 m and its situation at 216 m a.s.l., already in sping the water temperature is about 17 to 19 degrees. In summer, however, it might rise up to pleasant 28 degrees C.
The lake is about 1.8 km long, 0.9 km wide and the deepest point is about 5.6 m. Enough place for all those who love water sports! Lake Caldaro is not only perfect for swimming, but also for rowing, pedalo-ing and standup paddleboarding. For decades, windsurfers and sailers meet at Lake Caldaro, when under good weather conditions the Ora from Lake Garda arrives up to Caldaro. Every year in spring, however, the International Lake Caldaro Triathlon takes place.
Lake Caldaro - "Kalterer See" in German, "Lago di Caldaro" in Italian - includes the largest wetland area between the Po Plain and the Alpine divide. The biotope is part of the European-wide Natura 2000 sites and offers a fairytale-like landscape. Hikes to the ruin of Castelchiaro towering high above the lake, to the bizarre Horse Teeth rock formations, to the Spring Valley or a walk round the lake are only some of the possibilities adults and children can enjoy.
:::::::::::: Cameras/Equipment ::::::::::::
I'm no pro and I am still learning as I go.
I used the Mavic Air 2 for Drone footage and DJI action for the rest
The drone mavic air is my first real Drone and I am totally happy with it and would recommend it as a first time drone.

Tra le vallate verdi e le cime più alte delle Dolomiti, si estendono le città dell’Alto Adige. Città di confine, tra culture differenti e con usi e costumi antichi. Ma anche città moderne e all’avanguardia, all’insegna dell’energia Green e all’ecosostenibilità.

The cities of South Tyrol are nestled amidst the green valleys and the highest of the Dolomite peaks. Border towns with different cultures and with ancient customs and traditions. But these cities are also modern, even avant-garde, and dedicated to green energy and eco-sustainability. A holiday in South Tyrol can also be dedicated to its cities, culture, architecture and design.
