The U.S. military announced the establishment of two multinational forces in Baghdad on Saturday.
Lt. Gen. Thomas F Metz, the new Commander of Multinational Force Corps Iraq said the coalition "would work just as hard to improve the quality of life for citizens of Iraq."
Metz will now be in charge of day-to-day security operations in Iraq, although Lt. Gen Ricardo Sanchez, commander of coalition troops - will remain in charge of all coalition forces, including the Multinational corps.
Metz said the US would "help them as they begin to tap the tremendous potential of this great country.''

Bush, argued that removing Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein from power would help combat terrorism and bring democracy to the region.
The war officially began on March 20, 2003, with a massive air assault followed by a ground invasion. Coalition forces quickly toppled Saddam Hussein's regime, and by May 1, 2003, President Bush declared major combat operations over. However, the aftermath of the invasion led to years of violent insurgency, sectarian conflict, and instability in Iraq.
Despite the initial success in removing Saddam Hussein, no WMDs were found, which led to widespread criticism of the war and its justifications. The conflict caused significant loss of life, with estimates of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians killed, along with thousands of coalition soldiers. The war also had profound political, social, and economic impacts, both in Iraq and globally.
The U.S. began withdrawing troops in 2007 under President George W. Bush’s "surge" strategy, which aimed to reduce violence by increasing troop levels temporarily. By December 2011, under President Barack Obama, the U.S. completed its military withdrawal from Iraq, though the region remained unstable. The war significantly affected U.S. foreign policy and contributed to ongoing debates about military intervention and nation-building.

SUMMARY
=======
The Multi-National Force – Iraq (MNF–I), often referred to as the coalition forces, was a military command during the 2003 invasion of Iraq and much of the ensuing Iraq War, led by the United States of America (Operation Iraqi Freedom), United Kingdom (Operation TELIC), Australia, Spain and Poland, responsible for conducting and handling military operations.
The MNF-I replaced the previous force, Combined Joint Task Force 7, on 15 May 2004, and was later itself reorganized into its successor, United States Forces – Iraq, on 1 January 2010. The Force was significantly reinforced during the Iraq War troop surge of 2007. As of May 2011, all non-U.S. coalition members had withdrawn from Iraq, with the U.S. military withdrawing from the country on December 18, 2011, thus, bringing about an end to the Iraq War.Also in Iraq, since August 2003, is the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq, which does humanitarian work and has a number of guards and military observers. The U.N. Assistance Mission in Iraq was not a part of the MNF-I, but a separate entity. The NATO Training Mission – Iraq, was in Iraq from 2004 to December 2011, where it trained the Iraqi Army and the Iraqi police forces.

SUMMARY
=======
