Moshing or slamdancing is a style of dance where participants push or slam into each other, typically during a live music show. It is usually associated with “aggressive” music genres, such as hardcore punk and some styles of extreme metal, especially thrash metal, which borrowed the practice from hardcore punk. In the late 1980s, moshing crossed over into the mainstream and it was done at concerts by grunge bands and other styles. It is primarily done to live music, although it can be done to recorded music.
Variations of moshing exist, and can be done alone as well as in groups. Moshing usually happens in an area called the "pit" (sometimes called a "mosh pit") near the stage. It is intended to be energetic and full of body contact. Variations on the traditional mosh include "pogoing", "circle pits" (where the participants bump and jostle each other as they move in a circle) and the more extreme "wall of death". Some moshers swing their arms back and forth and move their legs in a rhythmic fashion. Moshing is typically done in an area in the center of the crowd, generally closer to the stage.
Mosh was born in what was then the Soviet Union, but moved to the United States with her family at the age of three. She trained in gymnastics for more than 10 years in school and was a cheerleader in high school for even longer, but injured her elbow in her first year as an acrobat. This limited her movement, and soon she began developing an interest in fetishwear, bondage, and pinup photography, ultimately guiding her to alternative and fetish modeling and burlesque.
Career
Mosh began building her modeling portfolio at the age of 17, networking on Modelmayhem.com to set up photo shoots with local photographers while juggling high school, a job and an internship. She learned how to do her own styling and makeup, partially out of necessity due to an inability to pay makeup artists, which led to the development of her self-styled signature look. After some years of modeling, Mosh began to combine her tease and fetish aesthetics with her gymnastic experience from her childhood, becoming a burlesque and fetish performer.
In computing, Mosh (mobile shell) is a tool used to connect from a client computer to a server over the Internet, to run a remote terminal. Mosh is similar to SSH, with additional features meant to improve usability for mobile users. The major features are:
Mosh keeps its connection when a user "roams" to different IP addresses, for example by moving to a different Wi-Fi network or when changing from Wi-Fi to 3G.
Mosh keeps the connection open (not in the TCP-sense though, Mosh uses UDP) when a user loses their Internet connection or puts their client to "sleep." In comparison, SSH can lose its connection in such cases because TCP times out.
Mosh tries to show a user the keys they have typed, and deletions they have made to text, immediately, without waiting for network lag. It uses an adaptive system that predicts whether the application running on the server will decide to echo the user's keystrokes or deletions.
The main drawbacks of mosh are additional prerequisites to the server and that it lacks some special features of SSH (such as connection forwarding).
Majestic is one of the first alternate reality games (ARGs), a type of game that blurs the line between in-game and out-of-game experiences. It debuted on July 31, 2001. While noted for its unusual concept, it did not fare well commercially.
Gameplay
Majestic was a science fictionthriller based on a Majestic 12shadow governmentconspiracy theory. As an ARG, the game was played by phone, email, AOL Instant Messenger, BlackBerry messages, fax, and by visiting special websites. Gameplay frequently involved the player receiving clues that they would use to solve puzzles and unravel the story. All the messages were automated, with limited dialogue options, but AIM provided some interactive conversations. As an option to warn unsuspecting members in the same house you could enable a warning at the beginning of each phone call, and a small message on the top of all faxes. When this option was enabled, each phone call would begin with a woman saying "This is a phone call from the video game Majestic", before the regular, prerecorded message. Some of the clues were videos featuring the game's cast. One of the more widely recognized actors was Joe Pantoliano, who portrayed Tim Pritchard in the game's final episode.
Majestic is a historic riverboat in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was declared a National Historic Landmark on 20 December 1989, the last and oldest American floating theater.
History
The last of the original travelling showboats, Majestic was built in 1923 in Pittsburgh and plied the Ohio River for many years offering shows at towns along the way. Tom Reynolds and his family owned, lived on and ran her until the start of World War II.
From 1945 to 1960 there was an academic alliance between the Reynolds family and Hiram College, Kent State University, and Indiana University. These institutions ran summer theater experience for students on Majestic.
After resting in dry dock from 1965 to 1967, the City of Cincinnati purchased Majestic as part of its downtown Cincinnati Central Riverfront show case. She is now permanently docked at the Cincinnati Public Landing; the riverboat is a venue for comedies and musicals.
The riverboat is owned by the City of Cincinnati, and has been operated as a summer theatre since 1991 by Cincinnati Landmark Productions. It was announced on Sept 10th 2013 that Landmark Productions would no longer be presenting shows on the boat.
Majestic is the eighth full-length studio album from the Germanpower metal band Gamma Ray, released in 2005. The band also released an LP version through their website to complement the supporting tour, limited to 1500 copies worldwide.
Guitarist Henjo Ritcher was injured during the Majestic tour from falling down a flight of stairs on a ferry between Sweden and Finland. He was forced to sit out on half the tour due to his injury.
The song "Blood Religion", with lyrics about vampires, became a trademark song of Gamma Ray, with fans in concert chanting some of the main chorus lines during the song similar to how fans recited the main chorus to "Future World", a Helloween song.

I knew a song that played in me It seems I've lost the melody So, please, Lord Give it back to me Yeah, please Lord Give it back to me Years in the desert with no drink Strike a rock, make it bleed And, please, Lord Give it back to me Yeah, please Lord Give it back to me If you blow on the embers The light will shine on my face The streams will run in the desert And sing amazing grace You're everywhere in everytime And yet you're so damn hard to find So, please, Lord I don't wanna aside No, please, Lord I don't wanna aside I need your breath on the embers I need the light on my face I need the streams in the desert That sing amazing grace, that sing amazing grace
