Amenhotep III: Was This Man Egypt's Greatest Pharaoh? | Immortal Egypt | Timeline
Joann explores the peak of ancient Egyptian civilisation by looking at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues depicting Pharaoh Amenhotep III, and examining the lives of the workers and artisans involved in the building of the Valley of the Kings. This golden age was threatened by the growing power of Karnak's priests, and Joann reveals how Tutankhamen's early death was a chance for Egypt to start afresh and rewrite history, but was undermined by decades of state-sanctioned looting of the tombs.

Ancient Egyptians have always been a point of interest to anyone interested in history. Many people constantly debate about what the builder of the Pyramids looked like. A civilization that lasts for many millennia has had the time to change numerous times but what did they really look like? We are talking about the indigenous people of Kemet.
Despite the numerous artifacts available, the historical records and the location of that civilization, scientists and mainstream scholars keep leaving some sort of mystery about this topic.
That's why we have started what we called the restoration project to unveil that part of world history and let people judge about what seems obvious to many of us. By utilizing advanced science and technology, we decided to take charge and recreate the faces of numerous African historical figures.
This is the new season of our Restoration project and many recreations have been done and are on the way. We are using high-resolution CT scanning data, skulls, three-dimensional prints and numerous artistic technics to recreate these faces as accurately as possible right now.
Our purpose is not to falsify history, but to be as close as possible to reality. That's why you will notice that the results are usually the average of all data (artifacts, paintings, statues, etc) available.
Amenhotep III and Tiye are probably the most powerful and iconic rulers of Kemet, but strangely, mainstream media and scholars never mention them when they talk about Kemet. We wondered why…
Usually they prefer to talk about Cleopatra, Alexander the Greek, Ramses II when they talk about Egypt. But they rarely touch on the real builders and rulers of that civilization. That's why we were very excited about this project. Knowing what their depictions show, it was a real pleasure to recreate these faces that still express very strong African identities.
#ancient #queentiye #Amenhotep #kemet #ancientegypt
It is important to understand that people's appearance (phenotype) is not linked to their haplotype. A perfect example of this may be the Masa people of central Africa. But scholars tried to convince the world of the later. It becomes clearer when one understand that all haplogroups started with Black people. Meaning that the original phenotype all over the world no matter the haplogroup, on all continents was the African phenotype.
Everyone was Black. So, it is impossible to link haplogroups to a speciphic look. Another good example of this may also be the original people of South America (Olmecs) whose statues show strong tropical features that led scholars to say that the original people in America were Black Africans. These people may not have been genetically identical to modern Africans but in terms of phenotype they still had these features today exclusively associated with Africa. Kinky hair, thick lips, broad noses and dark skin.
That's also something we noticed in Kemet. In spite of the genetic diversity, it is obvious that the population was African genetically, geographically but also phenotypically. In other words, they came from Africans, lived in Africa and looked like modern Black Africans. From East to West, North to South, Africans carry a diversity of features. But it is important to also take into account that some parts of the continent have been invaded, occupied, etc. All these elements must be taken into account and it has been the case in this project.
That's why our Restoration Project is different from anything you will see anywhere today. We hope that you will enjoy the result. Let us know in the comment section below. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share the content. We have to spread the truth.

The scene presents the funeral of Akhnaten's father, Amenhotep III. As the starting point of the opera, it represents the historical moment immediately before the "Amarna period" or the reign of Akhnaten and depicts the society in which the reforms of Akhnaten (reforms which appeared so extreme that they can be called revolutionary) took place. The action of the scene centers on the funeral rites of the New Empire of the 18th Dynasty. It is dominated by the Amon priests and appears as ritual of extraordinary traditional character drawn from The Egyptian Book of the Dead.
The funeral cortege enters followed by a small body of Amon priests who in turn are led by Aye (father of Nefertiti, advisor to the recently dead pharaoh, and the Pharaoh to be).
Text: Sung in Egyptian by the Funeral Chorus (from Budge, The Egyptian Book of the Dead)
I added the lyrics in Egyptian with translations, taken from Philip Glass's web site (http://www.glasspages.org/akhnaten.html#libretto). I had to place them at the top left since the bottom center already had some subtitles.
Cast (This was the Feb 23, 2013 performance.):
Akhnaten: Nicholas Tamagna
Queen Tye: Olivia Savage
Nefertiti: Sarah Ballman
Horemhab: Jeremy Johnson
Aye: Jason Eck
Amon: Lorenzo Garcia
Narrator: Ben Abbott
