It is a transfer station between the Orange Line and Blue Line. The Orange Line station opened on October 14, 1966, as part of the original network of the Metro.
Overview
Designed by Duplessis, Labelle et Derome, it is a normal side platform station built in tunnel, with a mezzanine on its southern end giving access to several exits, including underground city access to the Tour Jean-Talon.
With the construction of the Blue Line in 1986, the station was greatly expanded. Two large volumes were dug, one on either side of the original station, giving access to the stacked Blue Line platforms below. This portion of the station was designed by Gilbert Sauvé, and included artistictiling designs by the architect as well as a large mural by Judith Bricault. Another access was built leading to the Plaza Saint-Hubert, connecting to the eastern volume by an automated entrance. The Blue Line platforms were inaugurated on June 16, 1986.
Jean Talon, Count d'Orsainville (January 8, 1626– November 23, 1694) was the first Intendant of New France. Talon was appointed by King Louis XIV and his minister, Jean-Baptiste Colbert to serve as the Intendant of Justice, Public Order and Finances in Canada, Acadia and Newfoundland for two terms: 1665 to 1668 and 1670 to 1672.
Talon attempted to change the economic base of the colony from fur-trading to agriculture, but found this could not be accomplished without a larger population. Talon arranged for settlers to come to New France, including over 800 women known as the filles du roi – the king's daughters. These were young orphans that came to New France to marry men present there. He encouraged population growth through marriage grants and baby bonuses, which was financial compensation given to a couple when they married, and again when they had children.
worked to increase its population, agricultural production, and private sector. Talon tried to diversify the economy by introducing new crops such as flax and hops for making beer, by starting a shipyard and lumber industry, and by encouraging mining.
The Metro, operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), was inaugurated on October 14, 1966, during the tenure of Mayor Jean Drapeau. Originally consisting of 26 stations on three separate lines, the Metro now has 68 stations on four lines totalling 69.2 kilometres (43.0mi) in length, serving the north, east, and centre of the Island of Montreal with connections to Longueuil, via the Yellow Line, and Laval, via the Orange line.
The Montreal Metro is Canada's busiest metro system, and North America's third busiest in total daily passenger usage behind those of New York City and Mexico City, delivering an average of 1,245,700 daily unlinked passenger trips per weekday (as of Q1 2014). In 2013, 356.1 million trips on the Metro were completed (transfers counted as separate trips). According to the STM website the Metro system had transported over 7 billion passengers as of 2010, roughly equivalent to the world's population. Montreal has built one of North America's largest urban rapid transit schemes, serving the fourth-largest number of passengers overall (after New York City, Mexico City, and Toronto) and attracting the second-highest ridership per capita behind New York City.
The Champ de Mars (French pronunciation:[ʃɑ̃ də maʁs] ; English:Field of Mars) is a large public greenspace in Paris, France, located in the seventh arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower to the northwest and the École Militaire to the southeast. The park is named after the Campus Martius ("Mars Field") in Rome, a tribute to the Latin name of the Roman God of war. The name also alludes to the fact that the lawns here were formerly used as drilling and marching grounds by the French military.
Originally, the Champ de Mars was part of a large flat open area called Grenelle, which was reserved for market gardening. Citizens would claim small plots and exploit them by growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers for the local market. However, the plain of Grenelle was not an especially fertile place for farming.
One of the most important artworks in the Metro, a set of stained glass windows by noted Quebec artist Marcelle Ferron, illuminates the mezzanine of this station. These windows, one of the artist's masterpieces and her most famous work, were given by the Government of Quebec in 1968. They were the first work of non-figurative art to be commissioned for the Metro, representing the first official entrance of Automatist art in the system.
The station was opened in 1913 and was closed on September 2, 1939. Today, a station of line C of the RER situated to the northwest of the public garden Champ de Mars has taken its name and is called Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel, with a connection to line 6 at the station Bir-Hakeim.

Hello guys,
I’m driving on Jean-Talon Street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Jean-Talon Street is one of the longest streets on the Island of Montreal. It runs from Decarie Boulevard in the west through Anjou in the east to Galeries d'Anjou. Between Viau Boulevard and Langelier Boulevard in the Montreal borough of Saint-Leonard, Jean-Talon Street passes through the heart of Montreal's Italian Community and is nicknamed Via Italia. It is home to many Italian Canadian businesses and runs through the largest Italian-Canadian community in Montreal.
I filmed this video on May 26, 2020.

HISTORY OF NORTH AMERICA — First Intendant of New France, Jean Talon (1626-94) was a French colonial administrator appointed by King Louis XIV and his minister, Jean-Baptiste Colbert, to serve as the Intendant of Justice, Public Order and Finances in Canada, Acadia and Newfoundland for two terms: 1665-68 and 1670-72. Talon attempted to change the economic base of the burgeoning colony from fur trading to agriculture, but found this could not be accomplished without a larger population. To this end, Talon arranged for settlers to come to New France, including over 800 women known as the King's Daughters. He also tried to diversify the economy by involving the private sector, introducing new crops such as flax and hops for making beer, by starting a shipyard and lumber industry, and by encouraging mining. He started the first commercial brewery in Canada, La Brasserie du Roy, in Quebec City in 1668. EPISODE 336 — Jean Talon.

Jean-Talon c'est la station du métro de Montréal qui est arrivée en première position dans mon sondage sur Youtube. C'est une station de la ligne bleue que j'avais l'habitude d'emprunter souvent dans le temps ou j'avais une job....
Jean-Talon is the Montreal metro station that came first in my Youtube poll. It's a blue line station that I used to use often in the time I had a job....

FR : Je tiens à remercier encore une fois le chauffeur dont le nom m'est inconnu pour cette ride incroyable et pour la discussion que nous avons eue avant et pendant la ride!

Here is a metro ride on AZUR metro train Set 7 between Jean Talon metro station and Bonaventure metro station on the Orange Line of the Montreal Metro System.
This video was filmed on Monday, October 9, 2023 starting at approximately 4:37 PM Eastern Canadian Time.
Note: as mentioned, you can notice how the lighting on the previous AZUR Sets was a more creamy like variant.
Here's a nice bonus metro ride video on the Blue Line of the Montreal Metro from Nuit Blanche on Sunday, March 3, 2024 starting at 1:28 am Eastern Time.
This was filmed during the Nuit Blanche / White Night festival when the metro system was open all night long.
In this video we go from Jean-Talon metro station to Saint-Michel metro station on the far eastern half of the Blue Line 🔵 aboard an MR-73 metro train.
One of the biggest farmers markets in Canada is the Marché Jean-Talon in Montreal, Quebec. Exploring the Jean-Talon market located at 7070 Henri Julien Avenue right near Little Italy is an awesome daytime activity in the city! So, in this video I do a quick walkthrough on what you can expect on a visit to Jean-Talon. It is an established open-air market with many vendors selling produce, meats, cheeses, fish & baked goods. There are so many amazing places to eat and shop that you can spend hours here! And if you are looking for more information you can also hire tour guides to do walking, eating, and shopping tours at the market!
