Ten years ago Mohammed Bouazizi, a Tunisian street vendor set himself on fire outside a government building to protest government corruption and mass unemployment in Tunisia.
His act would spark a nationwide revolution toppling Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, and ignite mass protests across the Middle East and North Africa that would later be known as the Arab Spring.

Le 17 décembre 2010, Mohamed Bouazizi « diplômé-chômeur » vivant à Sidi Bouzid, en Tunisie, s’immole par le feu. Le geste du jeune Tunisien lance un mouvement révolutionnaire qui mène à la chute du président Ben Ali, et au-delà des frontières, à ce que l’on appelle aujourd’hui les printemps arabes.

Le jour de la commémoration du 40 éme jour de sa mort. J'ai pu visité le village de Gra3 Bannour, pas loin de Sidi Bouzid. Mohamed Bouazizi est enterré dans le cimetiere du village qui comme tous les hameau de la région fait face a de graves problemes de chomage et de pauvreté.
