Miss Universe Japan (Japanese:ミス・ユニバース・ジャパン) was created in 1998 in response to Japan's then-recent lack of finalists at the Miss Universe pageant. It is a branch from the former Miss Japan pageant.
History
When the Miss Universe Japan pageant was founded in 1998, it was run by French national director Ines Ligron. Until 2007, the organisation managed to produce one winner, two top 5 runners-up and one top 15 semifinalist at the Miss Universe pageant. Ligron was catapulted to the international spotlight when Riyo Mori won the second Miss Universe crown for Japan in 2007. In 2009, Ligron left the organisation which resulted in a different team now leading the organisation.

In 1998 the pageant was renamed Miss Universe Japan. The winner of Miss Universe Japan (MUJ) represents her country at Miss Universe. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age) for either contest, a runner-up is sent.
This was the first edition of the Miss Universe pageant to be held under the ownership of WME/IMG, which purchased the Miss Universe Organization from Donald Trump on September 14, 2015, three days after NBCUniversal sold him its 50% interest in the organization in exchange for Trump's dropping a breach of contract lawsuit he filed against the media company in August for terminating NBC's contract to televise the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. Consequently, it is also the first Miss Universe event to be aired by Fox and Azteca, which replaced NBC and UniMás (the respective parents of both networks, NBCUniversal and Univision Communications, terminated their rights to the pageant as a result of Trump's incendiary statements against Mexican immigrants during his speech announcing his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States on June 16) as the pageant's respective English and Spanish broadcasters.
This column lists the respective contestant's age as shown on the Miss Universe official website.

Part III of the book has the account of Lemuel Gulliver's visit to Japan, the only real location visited by him. It is used as a venue for Swift's satire on the actions of Dutch traders to that land. His description reflects the state of European knowledge of the country in the 17th and early 18th centuries, and the tensions due to commercial rivalry between the English and the Dutch at that time.
Description
Japan is shown on the map at the beginning of part III, which also shows the island of "Yesso" (i.e. Hokkaido), "Stats island" (Iturup) and "Companys Land" (Urup) to the north. The map also marks the Vries Strait and Cape Patience, though this is shown on the northeast coast of Yesso, rather than as part of Sakhalin, which was little known in Swift’s time.
On the island of Japan itself the map shows "Nivato" (Nagato), Yedo, "Meaco" (Kyoto), Inaba and "Osacca" (Osaka)
The text describes Gulliver's journey from Luggnagg, which took fifteen days, and his landing at "Xamoschi" (i.e. Shimosa} which lies "on the western part of a narrow strait leading northward into a long arm of the sea, on the northwest part of which Yedo, the metropolis stands".
This description matches the geography of Tokyo Bay, except that Shimosa is on the north, rather than the western shore of the bay.
A yakuza, in love with a TV reporter, comes to Barcelona, Spain, where she's making a reportage on what's the foreigners' idea of the Japanese people, and how Japanese people see themselves; during her speech, she makes a parallel between modern day Japan and the ancient Carthage, saying that the Carthaginians were wiped out by the Romans because of the same attitude Japanese people have nowadays, and because economic superiority brings war, and in the end loses to military strength. Suddenly there's an earthquake, and the ghosts of the Carthaginians bring the group (the two yakuza, the TV reporter and some university students) to the future, when the sea level has increased and all the islands which compose the Japanese archipelago have been submerged; the Japanese people have thus emigrated in the other countries, and they're now scattered around the world, and in particular in Europe, where after the cataclysm a dictatorship has been established, they've become slaves and bandits. Japan is long gone, and Japanese people are lost and oppressed; but among the newcomers, desperate of what they learn, the yakuza, who mostly wishes to protect the woman he dearly loves, has a dream: Japan can be refounded, if the Japanese people come together to fight for it.
Diamonds for Breakfast is the fourth studio album by French singer Amanda Lear, released in 1980 by West German label Ariola Records. The album turned out a commercial success and spawned two European hit singles, "Fabulous (Lover, Love Me)" and "Diamonds".
Background
The recording of the album commenced in 1979 in Munich, Germany. Again, Amanda wrote almost all the lyrics and worked with German producer and composer Anthony Monn. However, as a result of changing trends in the industry and Amanda's personal musical preferences, the album shifted musically from the straightforward disco music towards pop rock. Lear explained the title Diamonds for Breakfast in the liner notes, comparing diamonds to "every tear, every frustration, every heartache (...). Good and bad experiences, pleasure and pain". She went on to say she pities "people without feelings, they don't have diamonds for breakfast".
The album cover portrait of Lear, with Tiffany-designed diamond tears running down her cheek, is notable in the history of art and design as it was one of the first major assignments for French photographers Pierre et Gilles.

Do The Japanese Find Miss Universe Japan’s Outfit Offensive? | Street Interview
Japan is a country where people take traditional culture seriously. So when the Japanese contestant at the recent Miss Universe Pageant showed up on stage with her costume that’s designed to celebrate Japanese Harajuku fashion culture, things did not go down well for the Japanese public. Or at least that’s how it was reported in the Western media. Japanese people apparently found it insulting to Japanese culture, is what they said. So do ordinary Japanese people really find her outfit insulting or offensive? Our Asian Boss reporter hit the streets of Tokyo to find out.
The opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of ASIAN BOSS or the general Japanese population.

Titleholders
Declared as Winner
Ended as runner-up
Ended as one of the finalists or semifinalists
In 1998 the pageant was renamed Miss Universe Japan. The winner of Miss Universe Japan (MUJ) represents her country at Miss Universe. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age) for either contest, a runner-up is sent.
I never thought I could love again This broken heart can never mend Cood as the winds came closing in you took my hand with a devilish grin But you were warm, you were kind You stared deeply in my eyes You were something out of a book and you're mine, all mine The sweet current of my heart Swirls around, well its on fire but if you hurt me it will change the tide love lost once before is hard to find But you were warm, you were kind You stared deeply in my eyes You were something out of a book and you're mine, all mine Please, please, carry me into the water, into the sea, Carve me out of your sweet bone to make this love stand on it's own But you were warm, you were kind You stared deeply in my eyes You were something out of a book and you're mine, all mine You were cool, you were calm, you fit snuggly in my arm, You ..... with the light I want to be with you tonight
