The Ministry of Culture and Sports (Greek:Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού και Αθλητισμού) is a government department of Greece which is entrusted with the preservation of the country's cultural heritage, the arts, as well as sports, through the subordinate General Secretariat for Sports. The incumbent Minister is Aristides Baltas. The Deputy Minister of Sports is Stavros Kontonis.
History
This ministry was established in 1971 as the Ministry of Culture and Science (Ὑπουργεῖον Πολιτισμοῦ καὶ Ἐπιστημῶν) and it was renamed the Ministry of Culture (Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού) on 26 July 1985. On 7 October 2009, it was merged with the Ministry of Touristic Development to form the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού και Τουρισμού). It ceased to exist on 21 June 2012, when the Ministry of Tourism was re-established and the culture portfolio was absorbed by the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs to form the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Sport. The Ministry of Culture and Sport was re-established on 25 June 2013. On 27 January 2015 its area of responsibility was assigned to the Ministry of Culture, Education and Religious Affairs. On 23 September 2015 the Ministry was reintroduced.
A culture minister (sometimes cultural minister, minister of culture, minister for culture, or secretary of culture) is a Cabinet position in some governments responsible for protecting the national heritage of a country and promoting cultural expression. This responsibility usually manifests in the accompanying ministry governing the following:
an official registry of protected historic sites of cultural importance
maintaining archives of cultural work, including museums and libraries
The Ministry of Communications and Information (Abbreviation: MCI; Malay:Kementerian Perhubungan dan Penerangan; Chinese: 通讯及新闻部) is a ministry of the Government of Singapore. It is in charge of information and communications technology, the media and design sectors, public libraries, as well as the Government's information and public communication policies.
History
On 5 June 1959, the Ministry of Culture came into being with the swearing-in and appointments of ministers of the new Government of Singapore. On 1 February 1980, the Broadcasting Division of the Ministry of Culture became a statutory board, the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation.
1985 saw the dissolution of the Ministry of Culture. Its Information Division came under the new Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI). Its arts promotion component was assimilated into the Ministry of Community Development (MCD) as the Cultural Affairs Division.
The Ministry of Culture of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) (Министерство культуры СССР), formed in 1936, was one of the most important government offices in the Soviet Union. It was formerly (until 1946) known as the State Committee on the Arts (Комитет по делам искусств). The Ministry, at the all-Union level, was established in 1953, after existing as a State Committee of the Council of Ministers for several years. The Ministry was led by the Minister of Culture, prior to 1953 a Chairman, who was nominated by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers and confirmed by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, and was a member of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

Gone Troppo is the tenth studio album by George Harrison, recorded and released in 1982. It would prove to be Harrison's last studio album for five years, during which he largely took an extended hiatus from his recording career, with only the occasional soundtrack recording surfacing.
Background
By 1980, Harrison had been finding the current musical climate alienating. His commercial appeal had dwindled, with 1981's Somewhere in England failing to go gold (despite featuring the John Lennon tribute hit, "All Those Years Ago"). With one album left on his current recording contract, Harrison decided to get it over with and recorded Gone Troppo (an Australian slang expression meaning "gone mad/crazy") and released it without participating in any promotion.
Release
Gone Troppo was issued on Dark Horse Records in November 1982. The album's artwork was credited to "Legs" Larry Smith, formerly of Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. The album peaked at number 108 in the United States and failed to chart at all in the United Kingdom.
