How Iron Mike Marshall Became Baseball’s Pitching Iron Man

Introduced by Dr. Mike Marshall.
This is a variation of curveball, and its feature is pitcher has to pronate through

Traditional release of curveball requires pitcher to supinate through release, and
this action causes pitcher's ulna crannon to slam into its fossa.

As far as pitchers go, the Iron Man moniker is a bit harder to come by, as even the most durable workhorses only get the ball every five or so days. Even Nolan Ryan, who managed to maintain dominance for a whole 27 seasons in the big leagues, never appeared in more than 42 games in a season. There was one reliever, though, who made a run at the Iron Man crown in his own right. He was the pitchers’ answer to Cal Ripken, the pitcher who set the record for games pitched in a season twice. His record is so gaudy that nobody has come within ten percent of his mark before or since. Now what if I tell you that guy was also 5’9” and trained differently than any other pitcher of his era. His name was Mike Marshall. They called him Iron Mike.
Terms to know:
-GP: Games Pitched
-IP: Innings pitched
-W/L: Pitching Wins/Losses
-ERA: Earned run average: number of runs given up by the pitcher per 9 innings that were not a result of error or passed ball
-SO/K: Strikeouts
-SV: Saves: Games finished by a relief pitcher, under certain circumstances (close enough game, late enough)
-ERA+: Adjusted ERA stat, park and era adjusted, where 100 is league average
-WHIP: Walks and hits per innings pitched: number of walks and hits allowed on average per inning
-FIP: Fielding independent pitching: similar to ERA, but excludes batted balls in the field of play. Uses strikeouts, walks, and home runs.
