Jacobs began his career as a writer and an actor. As an actor, he toured with the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, appeared in a Los Angeles production of Godspell, and made an appearance on the soap-opera Days of Our Lives.
His play, Cheaters, had its premiere in South Florida in 1977, winning the Carbonell Award for "Best New Play." It opened in 1978 at the Biltmore Theatre in New York, starring Doris Roberts, Jack Weston, Lou Jacobi and Rosemary Murphy, when he was twenty-two years old, making him one of the youngest playwrights in Broadway history. His next play, Getting Along Famously was produced off-Broadway in 1984, at the Hudson Guild Theatre. His play, Impressionism opened on Broadway in 2009 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, starring Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen.
Michael Jacobs (15 October 1952 – 11 January 2014) was a writer of Irish/Italian ancestry, born in Genoa, with particular interest in Travel, History of Art, Spain, Latin America and Gastronomy. His most successful popular work in both English and Spanish has been The Factory of Light: Tales from my Andalucian Village (2004), a true story but with a flavour of the magical realism of Gabriel García Márquez.
Writing
Jacobs' writing initially specialised in introducing Fine Art to the general reader. He continued with these works but latterly produced books which capture the day-to-day life especially of Latin countries and relate that to an historical and political context.
To the new reader Jacobs may appear 'intellectual' or 'literary' but he had rare talent in being able to write recent works such as The Factory of Light which is close to the popular current genre of the English emigre setting up home in Southern Europe, but also books such Between Hopes and Memories which is a snapshot of Spain in the post-transition economic boom of the 1990s and classic travel writing such as the semi-autobiographical Ghost Train Through the Andes and The Andes.
Michael Edward Jacobs (born 4 November 1991) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Wigan Athletic.
He began his career at Northampton Town, making his professional debut in 2009 and winning back-to-back Player of the Season awards in 2011 and 2012. He moved to Championship side Derby County in June 2012 for a fee of around £400,000, before signing for Wolves in January 2014 after a successful loan period. Eighteen months later, having been part of Wolves' promotion from League One, he moved to current club Wigan. He made his debut against Coventry City.

Northampton Town
Born in Rothwell, Northamptonshire, Jacobs came through the youth ranks at Northampton Town, and made his debut on 6 October 2009 in a 2–1 home win against Bournemouth in the Football League Trophy. His next appearance came in the next round of the competition, when Northampton lost 3–1 at Milton Keynes Dons. In February 2010, he was loaned out for a month– in a move classed as "work experience"– to non-League team Nuneaton Town to gain regular first team experience. During this spell he made four appearances.
