Meursault is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) in the Côte de Beaune subregion of the Burgundy wine region. It lies along the foot of the Côte-d'Orescarpment, around Beaune and with the broad Saône valley plain to its east. Meursault produces mainly white wines from Chardonnay grapes, primarily in a style with a clear oak influence, which have led to descriptions such as "buttery" to be applied to powerful examples of Meursault wines. Within the Meursault AOC there are some Premier Cru vineyards, but no Grand Cru. This has however not stopped the wines of Meursault from competing with the white burgundies from the villages Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, where several Grands Crus are situated. The town of Meursault is home to the international wine event La Paulée de Meursault.
History
Meursault is situated on a prehistoric settlement.
Mont Mélian is a Gallo-Roman camp. The old Roman Fort remains are still visible on the hill (known and signposted as "La Montagne") above the village. The name of Meursault derives from muris saltus, the "mouse-leap" stream of the Ruisseau des Cloux, so named by the Roman soldiers.

Meursault were a Scottish indie rock band from Edinburgh, formed in 2006. Led by singer-songwriter Neil Pennycook, the band's musical style has been categorised as folktronica, alternative rock and indie folk. The band themselves have described their latest work as "epic lo-fi". The name of the band is a reference to the main character of L'Etranger, the absurdist novel by Albert Camus.
In 2008, there were 394.05 hectares (973.7 acres) of vineyard surface was in production for Meursault wine at village and Premier Cru level, and 18,536 hectoliter of wine was produced, of which 18,171 hectoliter white wine and 365 hectoliter red wine. Some 13.47 hectares (33.3 acres) of this area was used for the red wines in 2007. The amount produced corresponds to almost 2.5 million bottles, of which slightly less than 50,000 bottles were red wine.
For white wines, the AOC regulations allow both Chardonnay and Pinot blanc to be used, but most wines are 100% Chardonnay. The AOC regulations also allow up to 15 per cent total of Chardonnay, Pinot blanc and Pinot gris as accessory grapes in the red wines, but this not very often practised. The allowed base yield is 40 hectoliter per hectare of red wine and 45 hectoliter per hectare for white wine. The grapes must reach a maturity of at least 10.5 per cent potential alcohol for village-level red wine, 11.0 per cent for village-level white wine and Premier Cru red wine, and 11.5 per cent for Premier Cru white wine.

Diary of a CEO host Steven Bartlett is amplifying harmful health misinformation on his number-one ranked podcast, a BBC investigation has found.
Recent claims from guests - including that cancer can be treated by following a keto diet, rather than proven treatments - were allowed by the Dragons' Den star with little or no challenge. President Joe Biden issues 39 presidential pardons and commutes 1,500 sentences | BBC News
US President Joe Biden has issued presidential pardons to 39 Americans convicted of non-violent crimes, and commuted the sentences of nearly 1,500 others, including several convicted of multi-million dollar fraud schemes.
The White House described it as the most acts of presidential clemency issued in a single day. It comes after Biden made the decision to pardon his own criminally convicted son, Hunter Biden.
Announcing the move, Biden said those pardoned had "shown successful rehabilitation and have shown commitment to making their communities stronger and safer".
The US Constitution decrees that a president has the broad "power to grant reprieves and pardons for offences against the United States, except in cases of impeachment".

Georgia's turmoil deepens as ex-footballer named president | BBC News
Mikheil Kavelashvili, a former Manchester City footballer, has been appointed president by Georgia's disputed parliament, after 17 days of pro-EU protests that have swept this country's towns and cities.
The 53-year-old is a former MP from the increasingly authoritarian ruling Georgian Dream party and was the only candidate for the job.
On Saturday, 224 out of 225 members of Georgia's electoral college voted for him.
The four main opposition groups have rejected Kavelashvili and have boycotted parliament, insisting that the elections held in October were rigged.
Large crowds of protesters, facing freezing temperatures, gathered outside parliament from the early hours of Saturday morning ahead of the vote.

Experts have told us failing to question these disproven claims is dangerous because it creates a distrust of conventional medicine.
In an analysis of 15 health-related podcast episodes, BBC World Service found each contained an average of 14 harmful health claims that went against extensive scientific evidence.
Flight Studio - the podcast production company owned by Mr Bartlett - said guests were offered "freedom of expression" and were "thoroughly researched".

South Korean MPs have voted to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The vote marks a second attempt to impeach Yoon over his botched attempt to declare martial law, which sparked mass protests.
Thousands of people took to the streets in Seoul as protesters - both supporting and against the president - staged huge rallies ahead of the impeachment vote.
He will be suspended from office while the prime minister will serve as acting president.

An alleged Chinese spy who formed an "unusual degree of trust" with the Duke of York has been banned from the UK, after a judgement by the UK's semi-secret national security court.
The man, known only as H6 and described as a "close confidant" to Prince Andrew, brought an appeal against his initial ban but the decision was upheld by the court.
Judges were told the businessman was attempting to leverage Prince Andrew's influence.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment, saying they do not act for the prince, who is not a working royal.

President Emmanuel Macron has named centrist leader François Bayrou as France's next prime minister, in a bid to end months of political turmoil.
A Macron ally, Bayrou is a mayor from the southwest and leads the MoDem party. Ahead of the announcement, the two men spent almost two hours in talks described as tense by French media.
The president's task is now to ensure Bayrou lasts longer than his predecessor, ex-Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, who lasted just three months and was ousted by MPs nine days ago.
Macron is half-way through his second term as president and Bayrou will be his fourth prime minister this year.

I could just drive you on away Decorated just like yesterday Yesterday is the day of the week There innocents portrayed as the meek But in my hours of desperation would I trample on over everyone? No, I sound alarums and ring in the bells So just sound alarums and ring in the bells Al the obnoxious skateboarders in the world Couldn't keep me from a fresh-faced young girl All the lying and pretending I do Couldn't take me falling backwards to you So just befriend the weak
