Menominee County is a county located in the Upper Peninsula in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 24,029. The county seat is Menominee. The county's name comes from an American Indian word meaning "wild rice eater" used to describe a tribe. The county was originally created under the name of Bleeker in 1861. When county government was organized in 1863, the name was changed to Menominee.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,338 square miles (3,470km2), of which 1,044 square miles (2,700km2) is land and 294 square miles (760km2) (22%) is water.
The Menominee was an electric automobile built in Menominee, Michigan by the Menominee Electric Manufacturing Company in 1915. This company mainly built commercial electric vehicles, but did make a limited number of electric cabriolets. The cabriolet had a 108-inch wheelbase, with a top speed of 20mph, with a range of 50–60 miles on each charge. A price of $1,250 also included a recharging kit for the battery. Production had started in July 1915, but had ended by the end of the year.
Menominee was named after a regional Native American tribe known as the Menominee, whose name roughly translates into "wild rice," which they cultivated as a staple food. In historic times, this area was the traditional territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe. They were removed to west of the Mississippi River and now have a reservation along the Wolf River in North Central Wisconsin.
Menominee gained prominence in the 19th century as a lumber town; in its heyday, it produced more lumber than any other city in the United States of America. During this time of prosperity, the Menominee Opera House was built. It is being restored. In the 1910s a cycle car, the "Dudly Bug", was manufactured in Menominee. In the waning years of lumber production, local business interests, interested in diversifying Menominee's manufacturing base, attracted inventor Marshall Burns Lloyd and his Minneapolis company Lloyd Manufacturing, which made wicker baby buggies. In 1917 Lloyd invented an automated process for weaving wicker and manufactured it as the Lloyd Loom. This machine process is still in use today. In the 21st century, the economy of Menominee is based on manufacturing (paper products, wicker lawn furniture, and auto supplies) and tourism.
Michigan is the only state to consist of two peninsulas. The Lower Peninsula, to which the name Michigan was originally applied, is often noted to be shaped like a mitten. The Upper Peninsula (often referred to as "the U.P.") is separated from the Lower Peninsula by the Straits of Mackinac, a five-mile (8km) channel that joins Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. The two peninsulas are connected by the Mackinac Bridge. The state has the longest freshwater coastline of any political subdivision in the world, being bounded by four of the five Great Lakes, plus Lake Saint Clair. As a result, it is one of the leading U.S. states for recreational boating. Michigan also has 64,980 inland lakes and ponds. A person in the state is never more than six miles (9.7km) from a natural water source or more than 85 miles (137km) from a Great Lakes shoreline.
Michigan: Report from Hell, released as Michigan in Japan, is a survival horror game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Spike. It was released in Japan on August 5, 2004, in Europe on September 30, 2005, and in Australia in 2005. This game was never released in North America. Directed by Akira Ueda and planned by Goichi Suda, the game focuses on a news crew for the fictional ZaKa TV, dedicated to covering strange phenomena. The game is unique in the sense that it is played almost entirely though the viewfinder of a camera; and the game is lost if the player runs out of film before solving the mysteries in a mission.
Plot
In Michigan, players take the role of a rookie cameraman for ZaKa TV, the entertainment division of the powerful ZaKa conglomerate. Accompanied by Brisco, an outspoken sound engineer, and Pamela, a reporter, the player is sent to investigate a mysterious mist that has descended over the city. The player quickly discovers that the mist is somehow transforming people into fleshy, leech-like monsters with human limbs. Pamela is attacked by the creatures, and is later found in the process of transforming into one. The player, Brisco, and a new female reporter are sent to investigate the source of the monster outbreak.

10 Places in Michigan You Should NEVER Move To
Move to these places and you're gonna regret it big time!
If you were going to make a list of places to NOT to move to in Michigan, you’d have a lot to choose from. Michigan. The land of wolverines. The region of lakes. The domain of all who hunt. Some might say Michigan is the prettiest state of all. It’s an outdoor paradise, and there’s really pretty farms everywhere. The people are super cool. Most of them. What’s not to like?
A lot. Like just about every other state in our fine nation, Michigan has its good and its bad. It’s not all like this. Many of this state’s largest cities are more like this.
For the next 12 minutes, we’re going to talk about the bad places in Michigan. Some I’ve been to and seen firsthand. Others were suggested by you. But all of the places we’re going to t...

There won’t be many surprises.
Is your hood going to be talked about? Will there be any places in the UP on here? Stay tuned and see. So, put off that trip to Meijer for a little bit. We’re gonna hop in our pickup and visit the worst places to live in Michigan!

A spokeswoman for the office said it was hard to know the makeup of the electorate because Michigan does not register voters by party. She said she was aware of an hour-long line at a single polling location in one Upper Peninsula county, Menominee.
