Menkaure Pyramid to be Renovated & Re-Cased in Granite
The Pyramid of Menkaure is in the news this week and I have to say I have some very mixed feelings about a new mission that has just begun.
So, in this video I’ll tell you the news, say my piece, and I won’t hold back on my opinions, because somebody has to say it.
A team of Egyptian and Japanese archaeologists have started a new project involving the studying, restoring, documenting and re-assembling of the Menkaure Pyramid granite casing stones.
It will take place in several phases over a period of three years and include drawing, photogrammetry, documentation, and laser scanning.
But yes, the authorities plan to re-assemble all of the fallen granite casing stones to the bottom 16 courses of the pyramid, which in my opinion is a somewhat ridiculous and unrealistic goal. In this video...

Archaeologists Discover What's Inside the Pyramid of Menkaure
There are over a hundred pyramids in Egypt, but a majority of them are in a dilapidated state. However, the three Great Pyramids of the Giza Plateau have best survived the test of time and received the maximum attention from tourists. The smallest of the great trio, the often-ignored Pyramid of Menkaure, is no doubt a literal mountain of priceless historical evidence.
But why is it so small compared to the other two pyramids? Was it left incomplete? Is there any other reason for its partially disrupted state? What is the story behind the great breach across its northern face? It is certainly a "diamond in the rough" that might not have managed to shine as brightly as its enigmatic giant neighbors but is no less a mystery that has brought up dozens of questions.

Menkaure Triad from Boston.
The Menkaure Triad that stands tall in the Boston Museum is a magnificent piece of Egyptian art that dates back to the Fourth Dynasty. This piece contains many keywords that are related to Menkaure, the Pharaoh who commissioned the triad.
Menkaure was the fifth ruler of the Fourth Dynasty and is believed to have reigned for close to 25 years. During his reign, he commissioned many grand monuments, of which the Menkaure Triad is one of the most important. The triad was created to serve as a symbolic representation of Menkaure's royal power and the close relationship that he had with the gods.
The triad itself consists of Menkaure standing tall in the center, flanked by two smaller figures. These smaller figures are believed to represent two of his wives or possibly even Isis and Hathor, t...

A Secret Entrance into the Giza Pyramid of Menkaure? | Ancient Architects
Researcher Stijn van den Hoven believes there is evidence for a possible second entrance into the third largest pyramid on the Giza plateau, that known as the Pyramid of Menkaure.
He published his paper last year and although he hasn’t got access to cosmic muon technology or geophysical data, his physical observations certainly make a compelling case for such work to be carried out on the pyramid in the future.
This video is a re-make of one I created more than 12 months ago and is based on his fantastic new paper, which shows that there is physical evidence for a possible entrance on the eastern side of the pyramid. Watch now and please leave your comments below.

These smaller figures are believed to represent two of his wives or possibly even Isis and Hathor, two powerful Egyptian goddesses. The triad is made of a type of stone called greywacke, which was notoriously difficult to carve. This material was chosen to give the triad a sense of permanence and solidity, which only further reinforces the concept of Menkaure's power.
The Menkaure Triad is particularly interesting as it is one of the few surviving examples of a three-figure group known as a triad. These were commonly used in Egyptian art to depict gods and rulers together, symbolizing their power and relationship. The Menkaure Triad is particularly notable as it portrays a Pharaoh rather than a god, indicating the importance that Menkaure placed on his divine status.
Along with the triad, Menkaure is also well-known for his pyramid. The Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three Giza pyramids, but it still stands tall and proud to this day. This pyramid is also very important as it is one of the few that still contains some of the original casing stones at its summit.
Overall, the Menkaure Triad in the Boston Museum is a masterpiece of Egyptian art and a symbol of the power and divinity of Menkaure. Through its use of difficult to carve materials, symbolism, and triad format, it serves as a reminder of the greatness of ancient Egypt and the rulers who helped to shape its legacy.
