Marble Arch is a 19th-century white marble faced triumphal arch and London landmark. The structure was designed by John Nash in 1827 to be the state entrance to the cour d'honneur of Buckingham Palace; it stood near the site of what is today the three bayed, central projection of the palace containing the well known balcony. In 1851 it was relocated and following the widening of Park Lane in the early 1960s is now sited, isolated and incongruously, on a large traffic island at the junction of Oxford Street, Park Lane, and Edgware Road.
The Marble Arch, also Arch of the Philaeni (Italian:Arco dei Fileni), formerly known in Libya as El Gaus (i.e. "The Arch"), was a monument in Libya built during the days of Italian colonization. The arch marked the border between Tripolitania and Cyrenaica, and was located on the actual Libyan Coastal Highway (at that time Via Balbia) near Ra's Lanuf. It was designed by architect Florestano Di Fausto in response to a request by the Italian Governor-GeneralItalo Balbo. It was unveiled on 16 March 1937 in a lavish night ceremony attended by Benito Mussolini.
The arch, which was 31 meters high, with an opening 15.75 meters high (51 ft 8 inch) and 6.5 meters wide (21 ft 4 inch), and made with travertine stone (Rome`s typical building material), was located some 30km (19mi) west of the possible borders between Carthage and Cyrene, the locality called in Antiquity Altars of the Philaeni (Latin:Arae Philaenorum) which was located approximately halfway between Ra's Lanuf and El Agheila.
Marble Arch Records was a subsidiary of Pye Records that released budget records from the late 1950s to around 1980. Compact discs were also released from the late 1980s to around 1994.
Background
Pye Records created this subsidiary label with in a type of a mini-album format, with a shorter run than the average LP album to cater to a certain area of the buying public who wouldn't buy regular albums because of the expense. The name came about because of a famous London location.

LYRICS:
I remember staring at your hands
And your silver rings
Those precious moments
I wish I noticed things
Shouted here last spring
When fear was nibbling
So I held my next of kin
Its cold in the city light
I miss the cold of the city light
And its been three months since we last spoke
Because you never pick up the phone
I scream at the deadness of the dialling tone
I cry and I decide that it’s best if I leave you alone
Will your mother wash your mouth out
With the soap that she made for you
My head is on the ground now
But my feet, they don’t know what to do
Will your mother wash your mouth out
With the soap that she made for you
I missed you
When you went away
You got eaten up with the city and the dust
And the smoke and the rain
And I know that you’re trying to stay afloat
In the little boat that you made
Don’t feel ashamed
I do the same
Don’t push me away
And its been three months since we last spoke
Because you never pick up the phone
I scream at the deadness of the dialling tone
I cry and I decide that it’s best if I leave you alone
Will your mother wash your mouth out
With the soap that she made for you
My head is on the ground now

Chartbusters was a budget cover version album on the Marble Arch record label, releasing albums between 1968 and 1971.
I found this vinyl LP - which is over 50 years old - in a charity shop, so some imperfections can be heard in the audio; I hope this does not spoil the enjoyment of listening to these vintage recordings.

Session singers and studio musicians recreate chart hits originally performed by Edison Lighthouse, The Archies, Tom Jones, Marmalade, Leapy Lee, Lou Christie, Vanity Fair, Peter, Paul and Mary and others! David Byron is the vocalist on a number of songs (via Avenue recordings) and Elton John appears singing a fantastic cover of She Sold Me Magic. A decent song selection on this album, apart from the dreadful But You Love Me Daddy on Side 1 - feel free to skip that one!

In 1851 it was relocated and following the widening of Park Lane in the early 1960s is now sited, isolated and incongruously, on a large traffic island at the junction of Oxford Street, Park Lane, and Edgware Road.
End of words the truth you can't deny Seems like foes always breathe a lie So you slipped away, another day will stress your fall You try to find comfort in that bitter role You concede the time is tearing In those tears you strive to disguise Is this silence reappearing, or are you slowly disappearing? Always calm as the state you do achieve Bitter and weak, same old frown you wear again And so you lose it all, a total collapse, a complete relapse A normal night, trade your days for one normal night You concede the time is tearing In those tears you strive to disguise Is this silence reappearing,
