How does a Tank work? (M1A2 Abrams)
Let's use 3D Animation to show how a tank works!

I apologize for not including metric units in the video. I normally include both metric and imperial but this video I got lazy. (and yes, even as an American I agree our system is pretty wonky😫)
I made a mistake with the smoke grenade launchers in the video. They don't emit smoke directly - they shoot out grenades around the tank and then those grenades emit smoke.
For those of you that noticed the anime paint job on the helicopter in War Thunder - yes this is a real thing. Do a ...

The World’s Best Tank: M1 Abrams Battle Tank
Today, the M1 Abrams, initially introduced in 1980, has gained a reputation as the world’s best tank. That’s no small feat considering the number of tanks available out there. The beastly machine was named after General Creighton Abrams, a prominent commander of military operations during the Vietnam War, and it’s a platform of technological innovation.
It’s equipped with main guns that can shoot projectiles up to 4.7 in (120mm) in size and has an extremely rigid armor fitted with extra layers of steel and depleted uranium. It also boasts caterpillar tracks powered by gas turbine engines. The M1A1 and the M1A2 also came out of the development of the M1 Abrams. Each iteration was heavier and slower but also fitted with far more powerful armaments and advanced technology.

While the US Army was satisfied with the Thompson as a fighting weapon in World War Two, it was most certainly not happy with the gun's exorbitant price tag. The Thompson was a very expensive gun, and the Army wanted to see that change. In March of 1942, engineers at the Savage factory submitted a simplified version for Army consideration, and it was accepted and adopted the very next month. Savage would transition from M1928A1 production to the new M1 pattern in June and July of 1942.
This new M1 Thompson had eliminated at last the unique and unnecessary Blish lock system in favor of a simp...

M1A1 Abrams Firing From Hull-Down Positions
U.S. Marines with Delta Company, 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, fire from hull-down positions onto targets to gain control of the battlefield in support of Exercise STEEL KNIGHT aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California.
The M1 Abrams is an American third-generation main battle tank produced by the United States. The M1 is well armed and heavily armored. Notable features include the use of a powerful gas turbine engine (multifuel), the adoption of sophisticated composite armor, and separate ammunition storage in a blow-out compartment for crew safety. Weighing nearly 68 short tons (almost 62 metric tons), it is one of the heaviest main battle tanks in service. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Abrams

THIS ABRAMS IS A HUGE MISTAKE - M1A1 AIM
The M1A1 AIM in War Thunder is a Free Abrams LITERALLY for the US Tech Tree. This Australian Export version of the Abrams is quite possibly the best tank in War Thunder when it comes to USA!
Although the M1A1 AIM doesn't get access to the Silver Bullet, it does get the KE-W round and the biggest upgrade over the standard M1A1 is Gen 3 Thermals. It's actually the best sight fitted to a US Tank currently in the game.
The M1A1 AIM is a Squadron Vehicle meaning that if you're part of a Squadron you can research this tank for FREE with RP being added every 3 days until you unlock it. There's never really been a better time to be in a Squadron right now.
Overall, this thing is amazing in comparison to every Abrams in War Thunder with the possible exception of the M1A2 that sits at 11.0 in ...

📼Video Summary:
Come see how a tank works! In this video we're going to look specifically at the American M1A2 Abrams tank. The tank weighs 68 US Tons and can go up to 42 miles per hour. Parts of the tank include the caterpillar tracks, the wheels, the hull, and the turret. The caterpillar tracks are used to displace the weight of the tank allowing it cross rough terrain. The tank holds a crew of 4 - the driver, gunner, commander and the loader. The driver is up front and the other 3 are in the turret. The engine is in the back of the tank, it's an AGT-1500 which is powered by jet fuel. The main gun fires shells at about 3500mph. It can hit a target 2 miles away. There are a few countries besides the USA that use variants of the M1 Abrams tank. M1A2 Abrams tank continues to be the main battle tank for the United States military.

The reason the M1 Abrams has proved so popular in war is because it is not just incredibly tough, it’s also surprisingly mobile. This mobility is due to its treads: continuous steel-plates linked together with chainmail. These treads allow the M1 to tackle all sorts of terrain that normal tires just could not. One thing is for sure, you don’t want to get stuck in this tank’s crossfires. We bet, however, that you do want to see it in action. In our video, we bring you footage of this beast in action and also discuss the science, technology, and engineering that goes into building such a dangerous war machine.

This new M1 Thompson had eliminated at last the unique and unnecessary Blish lock system in favor of a simple blowback action delayed only by bolt mass. In addition to greatly simplifying the production of bolt components, this also allowed the receiver internal shape to be much simplified. A further simplification would follow shortly, as the hammer and floating firing pin were replaced by a fixed firing pin milled into the bolt face in October of 1942 - this new type being designated the M1A1. Another 715,000 M1 and M1A1 Thompsons would be produced by Savage and Auto-Ordnance by February of 1944, when the Thompson was finally replaced by the yet cheaper M3 "Grease Gun".
This is the fourth in a 5-part series on the development of the Thompson...
Note: I refer to the M1A1 in this video as a transferrable gun; it is actually a pre-May dealer sample. Sorry!

This new premium variant of the M1A1 Abrams was added on the last major update. Besides a premium tank the other primary differences are the visual modifications that make the tank looked very lived in. The Abrams is always a blast to play and I was glad to get to bring out another variant for your entertainment. I hope you enjoy the video and as always let us know what you would like to see in the future!

Overall, this thing is amazing in comparison to every Abrams in War Thunder with the possible exception of the M1A2 that sits at 11.0 in the US Tech Tree.
New players beware, though. Even though you can buy this thing immediately after downloading, you may struggle to get to grips with it. Top Tier in War Thunder is NOT an easy experience!
Advance Australia Fair INDEED!
