In 1956, she joined Covent Garden Opera Ballet, then moved to the Touring Royal Ballet in 1957 and a year later to the Royal Ballet as a soloist, becoming a principal in 1959.
Her first created role was the Adolescent in Kenneth MacMillan's The Burrow (1958), the first of many ballets on which she worked with the choreographer.
Her lyrical technique and intense dramatic powers were developed through the wide range of roles which she created with him including the Girl in Invitation (1960), the Fiancée in Baiser de la fée (1960) and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (1965, though Fonteyn danced the role at the ballet's premiere).
(2014) When I reviewed the raw footage of my improvised filming, it seemed to me unworthy of preparing for publication because it seemed overweighed with my observations, especially in matters seemingly of interest to no one but Lynn and I. However, friends who sampled the raw footage urged me to edit it. I addressed the footage about two years later. I was happy I did. Norman Frizzle

David Wall and Lynn Seymour - Bedroom Scene Pas De Deux from 'Romeo and Juliet'
I was lucky to see David and Lynn together in the ballet - my program tells me it was on 3 August 1973.
As we all know, the ballet was choreographed on Lynn Seymour and Christopher Gable and Lynn gives a completely satisfying and definitive reading of Juliet.

A Very Young Antoinette Sibley and Lyn Seymour in Class
This footage of a very young Antoinette Sibley and Lyn Seymour in class comes from the documentary 'Call Her Madam' (1998), a documentary, as the title suggests, whose subject was Dame Ninette de Valois.
The 'talking head' is Dame Beryl Grey.
Antoinette Sibley is obviously in the centre and Lyn Seymour the first to her left.
Enjoy!

Mornin' feels like a drag when you're all messed up Ain't got nobody to pick you up And your phone gonna ring like it used to do All those you thought, your friends Well, they turned on you, oh Like a stone, you flown your life To turns of fancy and of flight It's a lie, it's a lie So you believe what they say With all their gilded praise You string up your accolades They string up your veins They like to push you up But they won't let you go They keep a tight, keep a tight Keep a tight hold on you Just to let you know That they'll always be your lover And they will never know the crime It's a lie Break me down to blood and grit It's a lie A monkey blood and junkie spit It's a lie Elevate my pedestal It's a lie Touch me, baby Does anybody want me? Feel me, baby I still got that same old feeling Burning inside Hear me now Does anybody hear me? Remember me, yeah Remember me Remember me, yeah And you think back to the time When you never ever could get too high It's a lie Break me down to blood and grit It's a lie A monkey blood and junkie spit It's a lie Elevate my pedestal It's a lie I want to take you higher Bring me down I want to take you higher Bring me down I want to take you higher Bring me down I want to take you higher Bring me down I want to take you higher Bring me down The same thing that makes you laugh Can make you cry The same thing you eat to live Can make you die
