Lord William George Frederick Cavendish-Scott-Bentinck (27 February 1802 – 21 September 1848), better known as Lord George Bentinck, was an English Conservative politician and racehorse owner, noted for his role (with Benjamin Disraeli) in unseating Sir Robert Peel over the Corn Laws.
He was known by George, as all the males in his family were given the first name William. He was educated privately and grew up at the family estate of Welbeck Abbey in Nottinghamshire, and at Fullarton House, near Troon, Ayrshire, where his father was developing the docks.
Early career
In 1818, Bentinck and his older brother John joined the army, but personal conflicts derailed his military career. As an officer in the 9th Lancers, he called his superior officer, Captain John Ker, a "poltroon", in February 1821. Ker levelled charges against Bentinck of "inattention to duty and contemptuous, insubordinate and disrespectful behaviour." Bentinck requested an inquiry into the charges and was ultimately cleared. However, the incident would not die and in May 1821, in Paris, Bentinck and Ker were prepared to duel. Bentinck's uncle George Canning, interceded and stopped the event.
Cavendish-Bentinck was born in Westminster, London in 1821, Cavendish-Bentinck was the only son of Major-General Lord Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck, fourth son of Prime Minister William Cavendish-Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland. His mother was Mary, daughter of William Lowther, 1st Earl of Lonsdale. He was educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge. While at Westminster School, playing for his school's First XI cricket team, he faced the MCC for the first time in June 1937, scoring 14 and 13 though his team were defeated by 49 runs, and for a second time in July 1839 when he opened the innings with scores of two and six.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
