Maverick Sabre (born Michael Stafford; 12 July 1990) is an English-Irish singer, songwriter and rapper.
Career
Early history
Maverick Sabre was born in Hackney, London. At the age of four he moved to Ireland, where he grew up in New Ross, County Wexford, but later – following the suggestion of English Rapper/Singer Plan B – Sabre returned to London to pursue a musical career.
Speaking in December 2011, Sabre explained his reasons for titling the album 'Lonely Are The Brave': "'Lonely Are The Brave' was actually the title of an old movie that I first heard about when I was really young - around 12 or 13 - and I actually thought the feeling captured in that one phrase was amazing, because I feel everybody at some point in their lives needs to be brave to get through loneliness. And, because I thought it also summed up a lotta the emotion behind this album - particularly in terms of where I was at when I was writing a lotta the songs - I just felt as a title it fitted the project really well."
It stars Kirk Douglas as cowboy Jack Burns, Gena Rowlands as his best friend's wife and Walter Matthau as a sheriff who sympathises with Burns but must do his job and chase him down. It also featured an early score by composer Jerry Goldsmith. Douglas felt that this was his favorite film.
Plot
John W. "Jack" Burns (Kirk Douglas) works as a roaming ranch hand much as the cowboys of the old West did, refusing to join modern society. He rejects much of modern technology, not even carrying any identification such as a driver's license or draft card. He can't provide an address because he just sleeps wherever he finds a place.
As Burns crosses a highway into a town in New Mexico, his horse Whiskey has a difficult time crossing the road, confused and scared by the traffic. They enter town to visit Jerry (Gena Rowlands). She is the wife of an old friend, Paul Bondi (Michael Kane), who has been jailed for giving aid to illegal immigrants. Jack explains his dislike for a society that restricts a man on where he can or can't go, what he can or can't do.
Lonely Are the Brave is the fifth full-length studio album by Jørn Lande. It was released under his stage name Jorn.
Known as a big Deep Purple fan, Jorn also recorded a cover to the Deep Purple song "Stormbringer" during the sessions for the album. The cover was released as a bonus track on the limited edition.
Track listing
All songs written by Jørn Lande and Jørn Viggo Lofstad except where noted.
