The London Fog was located just west of the Whisky a Go Go, a few doors down, at 8919 Sunset Blvd.
In the years after its closure, much confusion has arisen as to what establishments occupied the space of the Fog after it closed.
Both Duke's Coffee Shop (in its original location) and Sneaky Pete's, a former nightclub featuring music, claimed to have replaced the London Fog. Photographs from the era show that both establishments were located further east of the London Fog, east of the Galaxy nightclub.
In Oliver Stone's 1991 film The Doors, the scenes depicting the London Fog were actually shot at the location that became the Viper Room in 1993.
She has toured internationally with The Weeknd and was also nominated for the Sound of 2014 award by the BBC and an MTV Brand New Nominee in 2014. On May 3, 2014, Banks was dubbed as an "Artist to Watch" by FoxWeekly.
Early life
Jillian Rose Banks was born in Orange County, California. Banks started writing songs at the age of fifteen. She taught herself piano when she received a keyboard from a friend to help her through her parents' divorce. She says she "felt very alone and helpless. I didn't know how to express what I was feeling or who to talk to."
Career
2013–present: Breakthrough and Goddess
Banks used the audio distribution website SoundCloud to put out her music before securing a record deal. Her friend Lily Collins used her contacts to pass along her music to people in the industry; specifically Katy Perry's DJ Yung Skeeter, and she began working with the label Good Years Recordings. Her first official single, called "Before I Ever Met You" was released in February 2013. The song which had been on a private SoundCloud page ended up being played by BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. Banks released her first EP Fall Over by IAMSOUND Records and Good Years Recordings.Billboard called her a "magnetic writer with songs to obsess over." Banks released her second EP called London by Harvest Records and Good Years Recordings in 2013 to positive reviews from music critics, receiving a 78 from Metacritic. Her song "Waiting Game" from the EP was featured in the 2013 Victoria's Secret holiday commercial.
London and the Thames were named in 1793 by Lord Simcoe, who proposed the site for the capital of Upper Canada. The first European settlement was between 1801 and 1804 by Peter Hagerman. The village was founded in 1826 and incorporated in 1855. Since then, London has grown to be the largest Southwestern Ontario municipality and Canada's 11th largest municipality, having annexed many of the smaller communities that surrounded it.
London is a regional centre of health care and education, being home to the University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College, and several hospitals. The city hosts a number of musical and artistic exhibits and festivals, which contribute to its tourism industry, but its economic activity is centred on education, medical research, insurance, and information technology. London's university and hospitals are among its top ten employers. London lies at the junction of Highway 401 and 402, connecting it to Toronto, Windsor, and Sarnia. It also has an international airport, train and bus station.
Charles Dickens' works are especially associated with London which is the setting for many of his novels. These works do not just use London as a backdrop but are about the city and its character.
Dickens described London as a Magic lantern, a popular entertainment of the Victorian era, which projected images from slides. Of all Dickens' characters 'none played as important a role in his work as that of London itself', it fired his imagination and made him write. In a letter to John Forster, in 1846, Dickens wrote 'a day in London sets me up and starts me', but outside of the city, 'the toil and labour of writing, day after day, without that magic lantern is IMMENSE!!'
However, of the identifiable London locations that Dickens used in his work, scholar Clare Pettitt notes that many no longer exist, and, while 'you can track Dickens' London, and see where things were, but they aren't necessarily still there'.
In addition to his later novels and short stories, Dickens' descriptions of London, published in various newspapers in the 1830s, were released as a collected edition Sketches by Boz in 1836.

How to make a London Fog (Earl Grey latte)
Hi! Hope everyone is doing well. London Fog is one of my favourite drinks especially when it's wet or cold (or both) outside – it just makes the world seem a warmer :-) So it's perfect for the holidays.
As I mentioned in the video, it's best to make 2 lattes (or I guess you could just make a giant one for yourself) with one tea bag. Here are the ingredients:
1 Vanilla Earl Grey tea bag (which is about 2 g of tea leaves)
~2 tbsp hot water
~3/4 cup milk (any percent works; haven't tried with non-diary milk, but I'm pretty sure it works too)
(as needed) honey
Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have questions :-)

How To Make a Delicious and Easy London Fog
Today we are going to be making a delicious and easy London Fog. To start out we are going to brew a pot of earl grey tea. Other black teas are just fine to use, but earl grey is traditionally used for this particular beverage. I will be using a tea ball to steep the tea with a teaspoon of earl grey loose leaf, however, a tea bag or two will work just fine. We are going to place the loaded tea ball in the teapot and pour in freshly boiling water. Then we are going to set that aside for about 5 min to get a nice strong brew. Let's skip ahead a bit thanks to the magic of editing. Now we are going to prep the frothed milk that gives the London Fog its signature smoothness. A milk frother is handy for this but if you don’t have one, I’ll show you a trick with a mason jar. Pour the milk into th...

5th December 1952: The Great Smog of London begins
To maximise revenues in the aftermath of the Second World War, the British government had opted to export the country’s better-quality ‘hard’ coal and retain the more sulphurous low-grade coal for domestic consumption. Smoke from burning this coal in domestic fires to offset the particularly cold winter of 1952 combined with pollutants from Greater London’s numerous power stations, factories, and public transport to create a thick noxious blanket of smog over the city.
The thick yellow-black smog was held over London for more than four days due to the arrival of a high-pressure weather system. This caused an anticyclone that stopped the polluted air from rising into the atmosphere. Windless conditions, and London’s position in a river valley, also meant that the smog was unable to be blow...

Pour the milk into the jar no more than a third of the way full. Seal the jar with a lid and give it a good shake! You can use either warm or cold milk depending on your personal preference. In my experience, warm milk builds a nicer foam but I prefer the taste of cold. You can tell once the milk is done when it doesn’t feel like the milk is sloshing back and forth very much compared to the start. Aim to have about twice the starting volume in the jar. Set it aside and return to the teapot. Remove the tea to halt the brewing process. Take your mug and fill it at least 2/3s of the way with the freshly brewed tea. Stir in about a teaspoon of sugar or sweeten to taste. Make sure the sweetener is fully dissolved before moving on. Once it has fully dissolved, pour in the frothed milk allowing some foam to reside on the top of the beverage. And just like that, you have made a tasty and delicious London Fog! Cheers!

Windless conditions, and London’s position in a river valley, also meant that the smog was unable to be blown away.
Visibility in the city was reduced to just a few metres, bringing public transport to a halt and forcing schools and businesses to close. Meanwhile, people across the city breathed in the toxic air and began to succumb to respiratory infections. Cattle at the Smithfield Show at Earl’s Court reportedly suffocated and, while nobody made the connection until several months after the smog lifted, estimates state that between 4,000 and 12,000 Londoners died as a direct result of breathing the polluted air.
In response the government began to rethink its policy towards air pollution and, in 1956, introduced the Clean Air Act that established ‘smoke control areas’ where only clean fuels could be burned. This precipitated a shift towards the use of cleaner coals, electricity, and gas as sources of heat.

Classic London Fog Latte Drink. Not sure if the tea is the London part, or the 'fog' part, but a great drink either way!
Earl Grey Tea, Vanilla, Sugar, Steamed Milk. This is a great hot drink you'd normally find at a Stabucks.

Cheers!
