Cray started guitar in his early teens. He attended Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia. By the age of twenty, Cray had seen his heroes Albert Collins, Freddie King and Muddy Waters in concert and decided to form his own band; they began playing college towns on the West Coast. In the late 1970s he lived in Eugene, Oregon, where he formed the Robert Cray Band and collaborated with Curtis Salgado in the Cray-Hawks. In the 1978 film National Lampoon's Animal House, Cray was the uncredited bassist in the house party band Otis Day and the Knights. After several years of regional success, Cray was signed to Mercury Records in 1982. Two albums on HighTone Records in the mid-1980s, Bad Influence and False Accusations, were moderately successful in the United States and in Europe, where he was building a reputation as a live artist. His fourth album release, Strong Persuader, produced by Dennis Walker, received a Grammy Award, while the crossoversingle "Smokin' Gun" gave him wider appeal and name recognition.
Live at the BBC is a live blues album by Robert Cray. It was released in 2008, through Vanguard Records. It is the second live album to be released by Cray to date, it was recorded in 1988, and 1991 at the Hammersmith Odeon.
Live at the BBC: 1967–1970 is a two-disc album by The Moody Blues. Released in 2007, it features forty-one live recordings of various performances for the BBC between 1967 and 1970. The album features multiple recordings of some songs, so they are listed more than once.

Live at the BBC is a compilation album of live tracks recorded for the BBC between 1985 and 1987 by The Housemartins. While most of the tracks included are session versions recorded for various BBC radio shows, the disc also features a number of cuts from the band's performances in Nottingham and at the 1986 Glastonbury Festival, as broadcast on the BBC.
The album features sleevenotes written by the band's former press officer and compere, Phill Jupitus, and serves as a companion to the previously released BBC session tracks included on the 1988 compilation album "Now That's What I Call Quite Good". With the exception of track 1, "Drop Down Dead", all of the recordings included on the disc are exclusive to this album.

Robert Cray Band - 1986 Glastonbury Festival (As broadcast by the BBC)
I used to really enjoy listening and indeed recording the BBC Radio 1 In Concert series on a Saturday evening during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I still have the cassette tapes and as the BBC has no immediate plan to make these available to the public I have decided to release close to 250 of these historical recordings on my YouTube channel.

She was right next door and I'm such a strong persuader
That she was just another notch on my guitar
She's gonna lose the man that really loves her
In the silence I can hear their breaking hearts
At daybreak I hear him back and say goodbye
I can hear him slam the door and walk away
Right next door I hear that woman start to cry
I should go to her but what would I say
It's because of me
It's because of me
She was right next door and I'm such a strong persuader
That she was just another notch on my guitar
She's gonna lose the man that really loves her
