Litz Wire
Litz WireLitz wire is a stranded wire which strands are normally insulated from each other with the varnish insulation. The wire is wrapped with a layer of mylar, capronic and silk threads. In this wire, the skin effect losses are drastically reduced. It has a better losses factor in high-frequency applications than solid wires. It is most widely used to construct switched mode power supplies and other high-frequency equipment, in particular the induction coils. These coils have a higher Q factor with the same dimensions. How to solder Litz wire ( how to tin Litz wire)
Today I struggled an hour to solder a Litz wire to something else. A Youtube video have suggested this method and I have tried it. It worked really well, so I made a video to spread this idea.

The use of litz wires increases the Q factor of coils by 30-40 %.In Russian, they are denoted by several letters, the first two of which are Л and Э, and the other letters denote an external insulation type. For example, ЛЭШО (LESHO) is a litz wire with a single-layer silk insulation, and ЛЭЛД (LELD) has a double-layer mylar insulation. Strand diameters can be from 0.05 to 0.1 millimeters, the number of strands in a wire can be different - from seven to several dozens, and even several hundreds. For a ten-strand wire of the average diameter, the weight of one kilometer can be about half a kilogram.

Today I struggled an hour to solder a Litz wire to something else. A Youtube video have suggested this method and I have tried it. It worked really well, so I made a video to spread this idea.
It's interesting, we write scientific papers and some other colleagues review them and a paper get accepted for publication, meaning that professionals think the work is valid. Here on Youtube, you can share anything you want, no one can block you from sharing your idea. However, the review is still there. People comment, like or dislike your video, more importantly some people will replicate your idea and it will be validated and gradually certified when confirmed by multiple people.
I first have watched this method from the following YouTube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCP9xrq0x_Y
Finance:
N=18, subs=398
Available budget (N):
398-100-18*(18+1)=-44
Storage limit:
2^ln(398)=63,40
Budget is negative, people don't care to subscribe, but negative means i worked harder than what i have promised to myself, which is good.

The specs for my Aurealis headphone cable were:
Wire: UPOCC 26 awg
Length: 2 metres (see below for why I said 1.2m in the video)
Source Termination: 4-pin XLR
Headphone Termination: 4-pin mini-XLRs
Finish: Black paracord
I said in the video that the length was 1.2m - that was an error based on some earlier communications with Geoff at Aurealis. The final length I went with was 2m.
Some extra info about UPOCC Litz wire adapted from the information provided by Aurealis:
The UP in UPOCC means ultra pure copper.
The OCC designates single long crystal structures. This means that the wire has no grain barriers and hence less distortion with the signal attempting to jump electrons across the grain barriers.
Genuine Litz (some manufacturers use the Litz term to describe the braid of the wire) is usually anywhere from 30 to 100 signal conductors in a strand of wire. The key is that each wire is a very fine strand insulated in enamel which means it acts independently of other strands in the wire.
Genuine Litz wire:
1) Largely eliminates skin effect - high resistance for high frequencies, so it is fantastic for transmitting frequencies way up into gHz range
2) It’s close to lossless. If any detail is lost by one strand of wire, it will likely be preserved by another strand of wire. In this way Litz wire produces wonderful detail, and sound stage and ambience flow from all those details that are available.
