Pure Substances and Mixtures, Elements & Compounds, Classification of Matter, Chemistry Examples,
This chemistry video tutorial focuses on pure substances and mixtures. It's a subtopic of the classification of matter. Pure substances include elements and compounds where as a mixture is a combination of two or more pure substances. A pure element consist of only one type of atom. A molecule consist of multiple atoms and a compound consists of different atoms. Individually, these are all pure substances. Examples of pure substances include hydrogen, water, silver, 24k gold, sugar, and iron metal. Examples of mixtures are salt water, seawater, air, brass - an alloy of copper and zinc, milk, sugar water, sterling silver, soda, wood, wine, soil, and rubbing alcohol. Pure substances have a constant composition where as a mixture can have a variable composition. Mixtures can be separ...

In this animated lecture, pure substances and mixtures in chemistry
Also, I will teach you about the difference between pure substances and mixtures.
Q: What is a pure substance?
Ans: A substance which has identical particles is called a pure substance. In pure substances, all particles are the same, having same sizes, same chemical and physical properties.
For example, the iron sheet is a pure substance. It contains only iron atoms. It has no other particles. So, we say that iron sheet is a pure substance.
Note: pure substance is made up of either one type of atoms or molecules or formula unit.
Q: Difference between pure substances and mixtures?
Ans:
1) In pure substance, particles are chemically combined together.
2) In mixture, particles are physically combined together.
3) In pure substance, particles have same chemical and physical properties.
4) In mixture, different particles have different physical properties.
5) Pure substances have same chemical and physical properties.
6) Mixtures have different chemical and physical properties.
7) Pure substances can not be separated by any physical process.
8) Mixtures can be separated by physical process.
To learn more about pure substances and mixtures, watch this lecture till the end.

I'm Robin Reaction!
My goal is to help you understand chemistry by breaking down difficult concepts into pieces you can understand. I've taught thousands of students and no matter how much you're struggling, I promise you can learn this stuff if you dedicate yourself to learning it and get help from the right people!
