Sometimes popularity fades. Series on the Super Nintendo or Genesis did NOT make it to the PS5, Xbox or Switch and that's a huge shame. I'm sure we've all got ourselves a franchise or two that we hold near and dear, but they don't always keep up with the trends. You can't tell me F-Zero doesn't deserve a come-back. YA CAN'T.

Every Nintendo Franchise Ranked From WORST To BEST
Though Sony, Microsoft and Sega all have their own mascots and first party hits, the Nintendo family of consoles is surely the most dependent on its longstanding franchises. The NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U and Switch have brought us some fantastic game series over the years and so, from Mario to Metroid, we're going to rank every single one of them from worst to best.

We now finish up with the rest of Sega's extensive library. I think overall there was well over 100 franchises to cover and its cool to see where they all place. It's somewhat sad to see so many cherished franchises seemingly dying off slowly, as Sega seems to only back a certain few. Even so, there's always hope of revivals and in Sega's case, lets just hope there's a lot planned.

Best-selling Video Game Franchises1990 - 2019(4k)
This is a list of video game franchises that have sold or shipped at least five million copies. Unless otherwise stated, numbers indicate worldwide units sold, ordered alphabetically whenever two or more list the same amount. The exception are the ones specifying shipments, which have lower precedence than others listing sales.
Franchise sales include expansion packs even though they are not considered full video games. Free-to-play game downloads (including free mobile games) and microtransactions should not figure into sales or shipment figures. For best-selling individual video games, see the list of best-selling video games. The sales figures given below do not include arcade game sales, which can be found at the list of highest-grossi...

SUMMARY
=======
This is a list of video game franchises published or developed by Sega or a subsidiary of the company. All series spanning multiple games are listed here. Games that were developed and published by third parties but released on Sega consoles are not listed here. Almost all of these titles and series have been published by Sega with the exception of a couple of franchises in which Sega was the developer. In the case of a franchise in which there are multiple games but no series article exists, the first game in the series is the main article and is linked to this list.
Among the franchises listed here are franchises now owned by 2K Sports, as those franchises were originally published by Sega until Sega sold the rights to the franchises in 2005. In the case of these games, the latest release date given for the franchise shall be that of the last game in which Sega was involved in its publishing.
Also included in the franchise list is Total War. While this series did not begin with Sega as either a developer or a publisher, Sega did publish later games in the series. In 2016, Sega acquired all the intellectual property rights of the defunct company Technosoft.

YA CAN'T.

The sales figures given below do not include arcade game sales, which can be found at the list of highest-grossing arcade games. For the franchises that have generated the most revenue, see the list of highest-grossing video game franchises.
