The link-state protocol is performed by every switching node in the network (i.e., nodes that are prepared to forward packets; in the Internet, these are called routers). The basic concept of link-state routing is that every node constructs a map of the connectivity to the network, in the form of a graph, showing which nodes are connected to which other nodes. Each node then independently calculates the next best logical path from it to every possible destination in the network. The collection of best paths will then form the node's routing table.
This contrasts with distance-vector routing protocols, which work by having each node share its routing table with its neighbours. In a link-state protocol the only information passed between nodes is connectivity related.
A routing protocol specifies how routers communicate with each other, disseminating information that enables them to select routes between any two nodes on a computer network. Routing algorithms determine the specific choice of route. Each router has a priori knowledge only of networks attached to it directly. A routing protocol shares this information first among immediate neighbors, and then throughout the network. This way, routers gain knowledge of the topology of the network.
Although there are many types of routing protocols, three major classes are in widespread use on IP networks:

The two types of routing processes are static routing and dynamic routing. Static routing involves manually configuring routes in network devices, while dynamic routing uses protocols to automatically update and share route information among routers in a network.

A link state routing – one of the intra domain routing algorithm has been studied with example.
Link-state routing protocols are one of the two main classes of routing protocols used in packet switching networks for computer communications, the other being distance-vector routing protocols.
The link-state protocol is performed by every switching node in the network. The basic concept of link-state routing is that every node constructs a map of the connectivity to the network, in the form of a graph, showing which nodes are connected to which other nodes. Each node then independently calculates the next best logical path from it to every possible destination in the network. Each collection of best paths will then form each node's routing table.

Here, Varun sir has explained Link state routing in computer networks.
The Link State Routing Algorithm is an interior protocol used by every router to share information or knowledge about the rest of the routers on the network. The link state routing algorithm is distributed by which every router computes its routing table. With the knowledge of the network topology, a router can make its routing table.

In the Internet, there are three types of routing protocols commonly used. They are: distance vector, link state, and path vector. In this chapter, we present the basic concepts and fundamentals behind each of these three types of protocols in a generic framework.
The two types of routing processes are static routing and dynamic routing. Static routing involves manually configuring routes in network devices, while dynamic routing uses protocols to automatically update and share route information among routers in a network.
