David William "Leo" Lyons (born 30 November 1943) is an English musician, who was also the bassist of the blues rock band Ten Years After.
Biography
Lyons was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. He first played with lead guitarist Alvin Lee in The Jaybirds. In 1967, there was a name change to Ten Years After. With this group, Lyons played at major rock festivals including Woodstock in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival on 29 August 1970. Ten Years After disbanded in 1976, although they later reformed several times in the 1980s and 1990s with all original members.
In 1975, he was hired as a studio manager by Chrysalis Records to re-equip and run Wessex Studios in London. He then produced UFO from 1974 to 1976. Later, he started two commercial recording studios himself.
Lyons moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in the mid-1990s, and was a staff songwriter for Hayes Street Music. He played in a reformed Ten Years After, with new frontmanJoe Gooch and also with Gooch in the new blues rock power trio "Hundred Seventy Split". In Lyons' own words, he loves "playing the old songs that people still want to hear. However, that leaves no room for new material - hence the new project." The band are currently mixing their second studio album, called HSS, with the help of Cyclone Music, whom they have used for all their previous projects.
Leo V. Lyons (March 11, 1892 – May 18, 1976) was a co-founder of the National Football League. He was a player, manager, coach and owner of the Rochester Jeffersons from 1908 to 1925.
Early career
Lyons started out as a 16-year-old player, in 1908, for the Rochester Jeffersons semi-pro football team. By 1910, he was manager as well as a player of the team, who guided the Jeffersons to the Rochester city championship. As a manager, Leo recruited one of pro football's first African-American players, Henry McDonald.
Manager and owner
Years later, Leo became owner of the team. By the time the Jeffersons were an NFL team, Leo served the team as a manager, owner, photographer, doctor, counselor, financier, field worker, game booker, agent, and scout. He also was the manager of a basketball team, comprising his football players, to keep the team in shape. Lyons developed big ambitions for the team. He took the Jeffersons to Canton, Ohio, early in the 1917 season to play the Canton Bulldogs, led by Jim Thorpe. Canton won the game easily, 41-0. However this led Lyons to study and adopt the Bulldogs way of recruiting and playing. In 1919, he brought in some outside players and the Jeffersons won the city semi-pro championship with ease.
Leo Lyons (born May 6, 1987) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for Ulsan Mobis Phoebus. Lyons was born in Topeka, Kansas, and went to high school at Coastal Christian Academy and Piper High School. At both of these high schools, he excelled on the basketball teams. He went to the University of Missouri for college and played three seasons of basketball before going undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft.
High school career
As a junior at Piper High School in Kansas City, Kansas, Lyons averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game while earning second-team all-state honors. Lyons transferred to Coastal Christian Academy in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds per game.
