Lee Hsien Loong (Chinese:李显龙, pinyin: Lǐ Xiǎnlóng; born 10 February 1952) is a Singaporean politician. He is the third and current Prime Minister of Singapore, and has been in office since 2004. He is the eldest son of Singapore's first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew.
As the Secretary-General of the People's Action Party (PAP), Lee became Prime Minister in August 2004, succeeding Goh Chok Tong. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Teck Ghee since 1984 and a member of the Cabinet since 1987, and was one of the key leaders in Singapore's political transition in the 1980s and 1990s.
The eldest child of Singapore's first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew and his wife Kwa Geok Choo, Lee Hsien Loong was born in Singapore on 10 February 1952. His paternal grandmother, Chua Jim Neo, was a HokkienNyonya, and his mother has ancestry from Tong'an District, Xiamen, Fujian, China. According to Lee Kuan Yew's biography, the younger Lee had learnt the Jawi script from the age of five, and has always been interested in the affairs of Singapore, often following his father to the rally grounds since 1963.

PM Lee to hand over leadership to DPM Lawrence Wong before Singapore's next General Election
Singapore's Prime Minister and secretary-general of the People's Action Party (PAP) Lee Hsien Loong said he intends to hand over the leadership to Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong before the next General Election.
Speaking at the PAP convention on Sunday (Nov 5), Mr Lee said he will hand over the reins to Mr Wong by PAP's 70th anniversary, which falls on Nov 21 next year, "if all goes well".
"I intend to hand over to DPM Lawrence before the next General Election. After that, I will be at the new PM's disposal. I will go wherever he thinks I can be useful," he said.

Lee Hsien Loong (Chinese:李显龙, pinyin: Lǐ Xiǎnlóng; born 10 February 1952) is a Singaporean politician. He is the third and current Prime Minister of Singapore, and has been in office since 2004. He is the eldest son of Singapore's first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew.
As the Secretary-General of the People's Action Party (PAP), Lee became Prime Minister in August 2004, succeeding Goh Chok Tong. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Teck Ghee since 1984 and a member of the Cabinet since 1987, and was one of the key leaders in Singapore's political transition in the 1980s and 1990s.
The eldest child of Singapore's first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew and his wife Kwa Geok Choo, Lee Hsien Loong was born in Singapore on 10 February 1952. His paternal grandmother, Chua Jim Neo, was a HokkienNyonya, and his mother has ancestry from Tong'an District, Xiamen, Fujian, China. According to Lee Kuan Yew's biography, the younger Lee had learnt the Jawi script from the age of five, and has always been interested in the affairs of Singapore, often following his father to the rally grounds since 1963.
