Daniel Grayling "Dan" Fogelberg (August 13, 1951 – December 16, 2007) was an American musician, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music was inspired by sources as diverse as folk, pop, rock, classical, jazz, and bluegrass. He is best known for his early 1980s hits, including "Longer" (1980), "Leader of the Band" (1981), and "Same Old Lang Syne" (1981).
Dan Fogelberg, the youngest of three sons, was born in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Margaret (née Irvine), a classically trained pianist, and Lawrence Peter Fogelberg, a high school band director who spent most of his career at Peoria's Woodruff High School and Pekin High School. Dan's mother was a Scottish immigrant, and his father was of Swedish descent. His father would later be the inspiration for the song, "Leader of the Band". Using a Mel Bay course book, Dan taught himself to play a Hawaiian slide guitar that his grandfather gave him. He also learned to play the piano. At 14 he joined a band, The Clan, which covered The Beatles. His second band was another cover band, The Coachmen, who, in 1967, released two singles written by Fogelberg on Ledger Records: "Maybe Time Will Let Me Forget" and "Don't Want To Lose Her."
A Lazy Susan (or Lazy Suzy) is a turntable (rotating tray) placed on a table or countertop to aid in moving food. Lazy Susans may be made from a variety of materials but are usually glass, wood, or plastic. They are usually circular and placed in the center of a circular table to share dishes easily among the diners. Owing to the nature of Chinese cuisine, especially dim sum, they are especially common at formal Chinese restaurants both on the mainland and abroad.
It is likely that the explanation of the term Lazy Susan, and who Susan was, has been lost to history.Folk etymologies claim it as an American invention and trace its name to a product – Ovington's $8.50 mahogany "Revolving Server or Lazy Susan"– advertised in a 1917 Vanity Fair, but its use well predates both the advertisement and (probably) the country.

A cover of Dan Fogelberg and Tim Weisberg's song, "Lazy Susan". This was a quick video for a student on chord-solos/melody, as well as quick-recording via Logic Pro X and a simple mic-interface... please forgive the mistakes. Recording used only stock plugins in Logic Pro X, and a Samson "USB G-Track" (which allows two inputs: one direct 1/4inch, and its own large diaphragm condenser. Film clip from the camera on Mac's "Photobooth", merged in iMovie.

She was lost
And I thought I was found
Even so I tried
To bring her in...
She was young
And I had just begun
To learn that even
Losing men can win.
We went the long way
We went the long way
We went the long way...
Or maybe just the wrong way
I'll never know.
Overnight
We were shown the light
Neither of us knew
To look away...
So we burned
And far too late we learned
That lifetimes can't be lived out
In a day.
We went the long way
We went the long way
We went the long way...
Or maybe just the wrong way
I'll never know.
So, goodbye
At least me made the try
Something can be said for
love that's pure.
If and when
We ever try again
One thing will be known to us
For sure...
We'll go the long way
We'll go the long way
We'll go the long way...
Or maybe just the wrong way
I'll never know.
