(19 Feb 1976) Rally by the opposition Democrat Party in Thailand and interview with its leader Senee Pramoj in the run up to general elections in April
commentary: a crowd of some 5,000 people attended the rally at sanam luang, bangkok's parade ground. the capital is traditionally a stronghold for the democrats.
this year, in the general elections on april 4, the democrats hope to pick up more votes in the south, where support for premier kukrit pramoj's ruling party for social action is said to be fading, because of the way it has handled separatist problems.
among the speakers at the rally was the opposition democrat party leader, senee pramoj, a former prime minister who's the brother of the present prime minister. he was the thai ambassador to the united states during the seco...

The 13.2.19 part 2, after I finish my unicorns experience I went to mr. kukrit's heritage house, a museum dedicate to the old prime minster.
Apparently he was an artist and most of his drawing contained animals (especially dogs) :)
I also got to find a green rose apple and try another Indian vegetarian restaurant.

(7 Apr 1976) Thai Premiers Kukrit and Seni Pramoj interviews
lead in: thailand's new leader said on monday (5 april '76) that he may cancel the order ousting the last united states' forces from thailand. it was the order for the americans to leave that led to the election defeat of prime minister kukrit pramoj. the comment by democrat party leader - seni pramoj, who is the brother of the defeated kukrit and the man likely to become the new prime minister, came in the wake of a strong surge to the right in the parliamentary elections that kukrit lost. both the outgoing and incoming leaders are confident about thailand's future.
commentary: reporter: "mr. prime minister...do you think that the outcome of yesterday's election will serve to make democracy stronger in thailand?"
kukrit: "oh definitely.....the outcome of the elections will certainly bring about a one - party majority in parliament and that will have a very orderly parliament and a stable government. what democracy in thailand needs now is a stable government and a working majority. definitely i think it will be good for democracy in this country."
reporter: "do you think your brother will be the next prime minister ?"
kukrit: "i'm sure......he will. he is the leader of the democrats and i think it's natural that he should govern."
reporter: "the indication is that you will have to form a coalition government. who will be your partners in this government -"
seni: "well, let me think about it for a time....i dont like to rush into things straight away because, you know, we run our party along a democratic line and we've gotto consult....i've got to consult my people first who were returned in the elections. but i think the trend is to .... we have got to work out a common principle first and then personalities and i felt among my people, the democrats, that they are rather fight-shy about joining the left - wing."

I’m in the process of updating my Bangkok eBook, called eBook: 101 Things To Do in Bangkok, and so on today’s Bangkok vlog, we headed first to meet a friend at Thong Lo BTS station. From there we walked to Napa Place Bed and Breakfast ( http://www.agoda.com/napa-place-boutique-hotel/hotel/bangkok-th.html?CID=1452029 - affiliate link), a place I wanted to check out and see if I could recommend it for the new edition of the ebook update. It turns out, Napa Place is very nice, in a good location not far from the BTS skytrain, and it has a real home away from home feel to it. It’s a type of place you would like if you want a quiet classic place to stay.
For lunch we went to a restaurant called My Choice, located on Thong Lo Soi 36. Although the restaurant was quite slow and not very busy, the food was pretty good. The best dish at the restaurant we ate for lunch was the green curry served with roti, I thought that was excellent. After eating lunch, we had a quick coffee and then continued on our day living in Bangkok.
We jumped in a taxi and went to MR Kukrit Heritage Home, the home residence of MR Kukrit Pramoj, an very important and influential man in Thailand. He was an author who wrote over 150 books, and he was also the 13th Prime Minister of Thailand. His home, includes 5 different teakwood buildings. MR Kukrit Pramoj spent many years of his life decorating and preserving his house. Another part of visiting the MR Kukrit House was the amazing garden outside, which is filled with a lotus pond, bonsai trees, and flowers, The house is not overly big, but the traditional Thai style of it is what is really impressive. I also loved visiting the house in the middle of Bangkok’s financial district of Sathon. There are skyscrapers and banks in the distance, but the MR Kukrit Heritage Home is a haven of a botanical garden and tradition in the middle of modern Bangkok. Entrance price was 50 THB.

(19 Feb 1976) Rally by the opposition Democrat Party in Thailand and interview with its leader Senee Pramoj in the run up to general elections in April
commentary: a crowd of some 5,000 people attended the rally at sanam luang, bangkok's parade ground. the capital is traditionally a stronghold for the democrats.
this year, in the general elections on april 4, the democrats hope to pick up more votes in the south, where support for premier kukrit pramoj's ruling party for social action is said to be fading, because of the way it has handled separatist problems.
among the speakers at the rally was the opposition democrat party leader, senee pramoj, a former prime minister who's the brother of the present prime minister. he was the thai ambassador to the united states during the second world war. after the rally, he was asked in an interview for upitn what he considers the most important issues in the election campaign: senee pramoj: "well, the most important issues are.. concerns the high cost of living, and that's among the people in the rural areas. the cost (of living) is increasing, and there's no way to cope with it, and rice - the price of rice has gone up to 75 cents per pound, which is a big increase. in the middle of january it was about 60, and now it's gone up to 75. and apart from that, there's questions concerning the landless farmers. they've got to cope with rising unemployment rates. those a particular issues in this very important (election), and whoever has a remedy to provide will win the votes".
