The Passover sacrifice (Hebrew: Korban Pesakhקרבן פסח), also known as the "sacrifice of Passover", the Paschal Lamb, or the Passover Lamb, is the sacrifice that the Torah mandates Jews to ritually slaughter on the eve of Passover, and eat on the first night of the holiday with bitter herbs and matzo. According to the Torah, it was first offered on the night of the Israelites' Exodus from Egypt. Although practiced by Jews in ancient times, the ritual is today only practiced by Samaritans at Mount Gerizim.
Torah (Hebrew Bible)
The blood of this sacrifice sprinkled on the door-posts of the Israelites was to be a sign to God, when passing through the land to slay the first-born of the Egyptians that night, that he should pass by the houses of the Israelites (Exodus 12:1-28) This is called in the Mishnah the "Passover of Egypt" (Pesaḥ Miẓrayim in M.Pesach ix. 5). It was ordained, furthermore (Exodus 12:24-27), that this observance should be repeated annually for all time once the Israelites entered into their promised land. Exodus 12:25 "It will come to pass when you come to the land which the Lord will give you, just as He promised, that you shall keep this service (NKJV). This so-called "Pesaḥ Dorot," the Passover of succeeding generations (Mishnah Pesach l.c.), differs in many respects from the Passover of Egypt (Pesaḥ Miẓrayim). In the pre-exilic period, however, Passover was rarely sacrificed in accordance with the legal prescriptions (comp. II Chron. xxxv. 18).

HOLY LAND UNCOVERED | A key part of Passover traditions is the ritual sacrifice. While it's seen by most of the world as an ancient practice, the custom is making a modern comeback. Our Shelby Weiner has the story.
Story:
Hardline religious group Matay Irgunay Hamigdash, or Headquarters of the Temple Organizations, has a mission — to rebuild a Jewish house of worship on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. Currently home to the Al-Aqsa mosque, Islam’s third holiest site, the location has been long contested between the two religions. The Jewish group however maintains that this location is key for fulfilling biblical prophecies.
“It is a new start of the redemption and we hope that next year or even before that we will be on the temple mount,” Temple of Zion Chairman Hillel Weiss says. He adds, “What we want to do is the law will come from here that all 70 nations will have a seat in the court and the law will be the law of the bible.”
On a rainy day before Passover, the organization gathers on a rooftop in the Old City to carry out a controversial practice: ritual sacrifice. Under high security, the sheep is brought to a secluded area. Religious followers continue to make final preparations.
“We are at another milestone of the process of the Jewish people returning to their homeland a milestone in process of the redemption of the world were standing right in front of Zion, the temple mount, where god choose to rest his divine presence,” says participant Yahuda Glick.
“Unfortunately, presently, for political reasons we can’t do it where we are meant to do it, so we are here expressing to God here we are we are ready,” Glick adds.
Far from of the eyes of the public, the sheep is slaughtered. Its blood is brought out for ritual use. With the coveted Temple Mount in the background, the worshippers hope to hold their next ceremony in a new location.
“We are sure that next year or maybe even this year, four days later, all the groups of Israel will come with their lambs to the yards of the temple and will build a kosher alter; you can see it, and in one hour we can bring it inside and start all the rituals of Passover lambs,” explains Weiss.
To complete the sacrifice, the lamb is skinned and displayed for the group. Its body is cooked, to be eaten later that night.

II Chron. xxxv. 18).
... bring a different korban each day (see Arachin 10a) ... On Pesach, we have strict rules about who may consume the Korban Pesach with someone else. One must be registered for the Korban Pesach in advance.
The Torah (Bamidbar 9.7) tells us that there were people who could not offer the Korban Pesach because they were defiled ... of Klal Yisroel and should be considered eligible to offer the Korban Pesach.
This week, in Parshas Emor, we encounter the mitzvah of counting seven weeks between when the Korban Omer is brought on the second day of Pesach through the night prior to the Yom Tov we call Shavuos.
f the rules of the game have changed, let’s change the rules of the game. Permanently allow Jews the same freedom of worship on the Temple Mount as have other faith groups ....
The Mayim Chaim [brought with the Parah Adumah] symbolizes the rejection of Amaleik, whereas the burning of the korban chatos symbolizes the beginning of our preparation to offer the Korban Pesach together with all of its avodah.”.
The Gemara explains that Moshe reasoned that since a mumar (a brazen habitual sinner) is forbidden to consume the korban Pesach, which is only one of the many mitzvos in the Torah, it was certainly ...
Shirah is lashon nekeivah ... We went from the appearance of Moshe, who promised to save us, to an increased workload, followed by offering the Korban Pesach in defiance of our brutal hosts and, finally, baking matzos and marching off to freedom ... .
The people who were tomei and unable to participate in the korban pesach complained to Moshe about their exclusion from the mitzvah ...Perhaps they should have accepted their fate and forgone the ability to bring a korban pesach.
The Torah tells a person who was tomei or b’derech rechokah, on a distant road, to bring the Korban Pesach one month later, on the fourteenth day of Iyar ...Let’s first analyze the parsha of Korban Pesach Sheini.
However, Rav Schorr then points to what happened with those who couldn’t offer the Korban Pesach because they were involved in a mitzvah ... The Korban Pesach Sheini exists because people cared enough to ...
... Pesach‘ on the holy site. His announcement came a day after police arrested the leader of the Returning to the Mount movement on suspicion he would try to offer a Korban Pesach at the site.
John Milton... It contained 40 loaves, a form of a peace offering (Korban Shlamim) ... A regular Korban Shlamim may be eaten over a two-day span ... INGIMAGE) ... That is the Korban Pesach (Paschal lamb) ... The Korban Pesach is also a thanksgiving offering of sorts ... .
Pesach is a Yom Tov of chinuch ... It is apparent in the Gemara (Pesochim 119b) that the reason we do not eat anything after the afikoman is because we want to keep the taste of the korban pesach on our palate ... (See also Rambam Hilchos Pesach 8.9).
Why is the Korban Pesach so important? ... However, the Korban Pesach is in between ... The Korban Pesach actually represents Klal Yisroel’s transition from a group of yechidim to the nation that unifies all of us into one entity.
“I told you he is crazy ... As part of the mitzvah of Korban Pesach, the 16th mitzvah is one exclusive to Korban Pesach. It is a prohibition to break a bone from the Korban Pesach, as it is stated (Shemos 12.46), “And a bone of it you shall not break.” ... .
