Boden wore the number 1, weighs 205lb. and is 6'1 tall. In his Canadian Junior Football League career, Boden played for the South Surrey Rams (now the Big Kahuna Rams) of the British Columbia Football Conference. In his only season there, Boden was BCFC Most Outstanding Receiver, Special Teams Player, Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year. He won the CJFL Rookie of the Year award as well. In 2005, Boden attended British Columbia Lions training camp. In a preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders, he scored a 14-yard touchdown. Boden was officially signed as a free agent by B.C. in May 2006, but as a member of the Territorial Protected List. In 2006, he attended training camp again and made the teams as a member of the Developmental Roster. In 2007, Boden made the teams roster as a backup wide receiver. During a game on September 29, 2007, he caught his first CFL pass. In fact, he finished the game with 3 catches for 83 yards.

A lawyer for Josh Boden is in court Tuesday looking for permission to appeal the former B.C. Lion's conviction for assaulting and obstructing a Vancouver cop.

As the sentencing hearing was set over to June 16, prosecutor Brendan McCabe told Silverman the Crown would be seeking 15 years prison time before parole eligibility.
Boden, who went from playing football at North Vancouver's Carson Graham Secondary to a brief career as a wide receiver for the BC Lions in 2007, was charged in 2018 in the ing of Hallgarth on March 15, 2009.
Davies said the Crown had proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Boden Hallgarth by stomping on her head and neck and then strangling her to .
Davies said Boden was motivated by continuing anger and resentment at Hallgarth, who he blamed for the loss of his professional football career.
Afterwards, Boden tried to cover up the by staging the crime scene to try to make it look like Hallgarth had accidentally after taking drugs, Davies said.
Davies said autopsy evidence established that Hallgarth was “brutally beaten before she was choked to .”
Members of Hallgarth's family are expected to give victim impact statements, Silverman heard.
