Day in the life at Johns Hopkins (dining hall, gym, library, classes) | freshmen year
Hopkins climbing wall was just too hyped up for me so I was too jaded as a Freshman lol. You can print double-sided stuff without using the printing station computer oops. Disclaimer: I am a freshman so some stuff might be wrong since I just got here. Some extra info about dorms: you can control the temperature of AC and heating in McCoy and Wolman but not in any of the AMRs. There's no oven in any of the dorms. Only suites have kitchenettes. There are common kitchens in all of the dorms (I think) which have microwaves and ovens. Most of this stuff is on JHU's website. Hope this helped!

Experience our Baltimore neighborhood that surrounds the Johns Hopkins campus. Hear what students and locals love about Central Baltimore, from the lively restaurant and music scene to the close sense of community.
TRANSCRIPT
[Indie music, upbeat]
[jogger panting]
[female homeowner] Seeing the neighborhood transform is a really beautiful thing.
[male artist] This space and this time, it's amazing.
[male student] A lot of neat, kind of hip neighborhoods.
[female student] As students, we can walk, everything's close by. It's really exciting.

Baltimore is one of the greatest cities on the planet right now. It's an amazing city and Central Baltimore's absolutely the core of that.
[bugle sounds off]
[crowd cheers]
[female student] I really like Baltimore. It's really friendly, all the people I've met. Especially with so many colleges in the area, there's always young people around.
Graphic: Jessica and Taylor Jade
And also fun places to hang out with your friends.
[female planner] The Johns Hopkins University, the University of Baltimore, and Maryland Institute College of Art provide places of culture and art and creativity…
Graphic: Ashley, Central Baltimore
…and want their neighborhoods to grow and thrive.
[female homeowner] There's artists and there's musicians and there's so many people who care about the community.
Graphic: Ashley, Homeowner & Illustrator
I love it so much. So it really makes me happy.
Graphic: Karl, Hopkins student
There's still kind of a close-knit sense of community but within that, still the richness of, you know, urbanite living. When I bike in to campus it's nice to see people just out and about, sitting outside and just having a good time.
[students laughing]
[male artist] The music scene here is amazing, it's theater, it's comedy,
Graphic: Pierre, Artist &gallery owner
…it's performance, it's art, and it's all very much unique and happening only in Baltimore.
[female student] There are a lot of different neighborhoods and I think there's something for everyone here, whether you're into music or like live entertainment, you're a foodie.
Graphic: Lane, restaurateur
I think the restaurant scene in Central Baltimore is getting better all the time. It's definitely a place where you can go to get variety and affordable food. And really food that is made by the hand of a small business owner you can really tell.
[energetic music]
[female business owner] It's a really energetic neighborhood but then also to be like central to a city and still have this much green that's all around us...
Graphic: Jamyla, business owner
…it's awesome.
[female student] The neighborhood is really growing, there's Station North, Charles Village, Remington.
Come to Remington!
[female student] Hopkins students are really a part of it because we're here and it's home!

After 3 semesters at Johns Hopkins, I want to reflect on the subtle things I love about Hopkins. I heard early decision for Johns Hopkins came out recently, so I thought of making an animation on why I originally chose Hopkins. In summary, my main points are: great people, solid city, small campus, and great professors. Hope you guys enjoy.
