New South Wales (abbreviated as NSW) is a state on the east coast of Australia. It borders Queensland to the north, Victoria to the south, South Australia to the west, the Tasman Sea to the east and surrounds the whole of the Australian Capital Territory. New South Wales' capital city is Sydney, which is also the nation's most populous city. In March 2014, the estimated population of New South Wales was 7.5 million, making it Australia's most populous state. Just under two-thirds of the state's population, 4.67 million, live in the Greater Sydney area. Inhabitants of New South Wales are referred to as New South Welshmen.
The colony of New South Wales was founded in 1788. It originally comprised a much larger area of the Australian mainland and also included Lord Howe Island, New Zealand, Norfolk Island and Van Diemen's Land. During the 19th century, large areas were separated to form the British colonies of Tasmania, South Australia, New Zealand, Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory (1863).
New South Wales wine is Australian wine produced in New South Wales, Australia. New South Wales is Australia's most populous state and its wine consumption far outpaces the region's wine production. The Hunter Valley, located 130km (81mi) north of Sydney, is the most well-known wine region but the majority of the state's production takes place in the Big Rivers Zone-Perricoota, Riverina and along the Darling and Murray Rivers. The wines produced from the Big Rivers zone are largely used in box wine and mass-produced wine brands such as Yellow Tail. A large variety of grapes are grown in New South Wales, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Sémillon.
New South Wales is the second-largest wine producing state in Australia, accounting for 30 percent of the A$5 billion Australian wine industry In 1994 the various wine regions within New South Wales agreed there was a need to form a peak lobby group to act as the conduit between industry and the New South Wales Government, and to represent New South Wales at the Federal level through the Winemakers Federation of Australia Inc. This body is the New South Wales Wine Industry Association.
John Lee (born 22 August 1964) is the CEO of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Previously he was CEO of Casinos, Resorts Australia (CRA) and the Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF), a senior Australian bureaucrat, former head of the NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Transport and State Transit Authority.
He is a Commissioner on the Australian Sports Commission having been appointed in 2011. His involvement includes membership of the Governance and Executive Performance Sub-Committee and previously the Finance & Audit Sub-Committee. HIs community work has included serving on the Advertising Standards Board (2006-2014) and the Mary Mackillop Foundation (2005-2010).
On graduating from De La Salle College (Cronulla, NSW) in 1981, Lee successfully completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Wollongong. Whilst studying he held the position of President of the University Union and was an elected member of the Wollongong University Council. At the same time he completed his Sports Medicine qualifications and rose to be the Head Trainer for the Cronulla Sharks under Jack Gibson and Alan Fitzgibbon. Later he successfully coached junior representative teams for the Parramatta Club winning the 1992 SG Ball competition for the Eels.
He is most notable to the wider public as co-presenter (with Gunther von Hagens) of Anatomy for Beginners (screened in the UK on Channel 4 in 2005), Autopsy: Life and Death (Channel 4, 2006) and Autopsy: Emergency Room (Channel 4, 2007).
In the first series, various aspects human anatomy were explored, with von Hagens dissecting cadavers to illustrate certain points. In the later series particular diseases were highlighted and explained, again with dissections of cadavers, allowing direct observation of the symptoms in humans.
During these programmes, Lee provided the background information about, and elucidation regarding, von Hagens' ongoing dissections. In essence, he was used to 'cut away' whilst the less telegenic parts of the dissection proceeded. This background information was usually shown on a television monitor and ensured that the audience could follow the doctors as they worked. Further anatomical and medical information was demonstrated on live models (naked persons with the relevant internal organs drawn and/or projected on to their body).
John Robert Lee (19 October 1885 – 2 November 1957) was an Australian politician.
Born at Hedley Hill, Lanchester, Durham, to coalminer James Lee and Jessie Watson, he was educated at public schools in Leadgate and Durham before attending Cliff College in Sheffield. He worked as a water works engineer for ten years and became a Methodist minister before coming to Australia in 1910, preaching at Yanco and Gilgandra. From 1915 to 1918 he served as a lieutenant with the 21st Battalion of the Australian Imperial Force. On 28 February 1920 he married Gladys Irene Dickinson. In 1920 Lee was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the Nationalist member for Botany; following the abolition of proportional representation in 1927 he was elected for Drummoyne. He was Nationalist Whip from 1922 to 1927 and Minister for Justice from 1927 to 1930; in 1931 he joined the United Australia Party. From 1934 to 1937 he was also an alderman at Drummoyne, serving as mayor in 1936. He left the Assembly in 1941, and from 1940 to 1943 served again in the AIF. From 1944 to 1945 he was a captain in the United States Army. Lee died in 1957 at Gordon.
Lee was privately educated at Oundle and then at St John's College, Cambridge. He was the son of a London-based builder, Henry Lee, described as coming from Chiswell Street in Finsbury but later settling in Balham; John Lee's younger half-brother, Frederick, 15 years younger, was also a first-class cricketer, playing for Cambridge University, Surrey and other amateur sides.
Cricket career
As a cricketer, Lee appeared in a couple of matches for Cambridge University in the 1845 season as a tail-end right-handed batsman, but made little impression; he did not take any wickets with his right-arm medium-fast bowling, and scorecards being incomplete for these games it is not clear whether he bowled or not. In his first match of 1846, his round-arm bowling proved decisive with nine wickets in a narrow victory for the university over the MCC. He took 10 wickets in the return match in London, though this was a 12-a-side first-class game. He was then picked for the 1846 University match against Oxford University which was played in Oxford. Later in the 1846 season, Lee played a couple of first-class matches for the Gentlemen of England side.
Housing at Georgetown University consists of 13 residence halls at the main campus and a law center campus. Housing on Georgetown's main campus is divided between "halls," usually more traditional dormitories, and "villages," usually less traditional apartment complexes. In addition, Georgetown operates many townhouses in the Georgetown neighborhood, usually for second, third, and fourth-year students.
A majority of undergraduates, eighty-five percent, live on-campus. The remainder live off-campus, mostly in the Georgetown, Burleith, and Foxhall neighborhoods. On-campus housing is not available for main campus graduate students. On-campus housing at Georgetown is the second most expensive in the country as of 2010.
Freshman housing
Darnall Hall
Darnall Hall provides housing for first-year students. It was built as a women-only dorm, and together with its male counterpart, Harbin Hall, cost $5.6 million. At the time Darnall opened in 1965, women were only in the school of Nursing, the School of Foreign Service and the Institute of Languages and Linguistics. It is the only Georgetown dormitory named for a woman, Eleanor Darnall, who was the mother of Georgetown University founder John Carroll and an early supporter of Catholic education in America. Darnall is one of two Georgetown dormitories located within ANC District 2E04. As a result, it has been the focus of efforts to recruit Georgetown students to run for election to this District of Columbia position.

New South Wales pensioners will be able to enjoy the benefits Gold Opal Senior/Pensioner card which is due out before the end of the year.
The Opal card for senior and pensioner customers would be released in 2014, providing travel on all modes of public transport for no more than $2.50.
The launch of the Opal card for senior and pensioner customers comes after the recent launch of the Child/Youth Opal Card.
To help prepare for the rollout of the Opal Senior/Pensioner card there will be some changes to the way customers buy their paper Pensioner Excursion Tickets on board State Transit buses across metropolitan Sydney.
NSW Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian says new technology is being installed on State Transit buses to get ready for the Opal card, which this means customers will soon no longer be able to buy their paper Pensioner Excursion Tickets on board the bus.
Customers will need to buy their Pensioner Excursion Tickets before they travel on buses from more than 1,600 ticket sellers across Sydney.
"The vast majority of seniors and pensioners already buy their tickets before they board the bus -- so the change will only affect a small percentage of customers," she says.
To ensure there is a smooth transition for customers, a letter and information brochure will be sent to more than 230,000 seniors to let them know about the Opal card and provide them with a list of the retailers nearby where they can buy their bus tickets.
Information will also be made available ahead of time on buses and the Transport for NSW website.
"Before the end of the year, all pensioners and seniors will be able to get their own Gold Opal card, which means they won't have to worry about buying a ticket or fumbling for coins ever again," Berejiklian says.
Two bus routes now have Opal, with the remainder of public and private buses in Sydney, the Hunter, Illawarra and Blue Mountains to come on line by the end of the year.
