John Keel
John Alva Keel, born Alva John Kiehle (March 25, 1930 – July 3, 2009) was an American journalist and influential UFOlogist who is best known as author of The Mothman Prophecies.
Life and career
Keel was born in Hornell, New York, the son of a small-time bandleader. His parents separated and he was raised by his grandparents. He was interested in magic (illusion) and had his first story published in a magicians' magazine at age 12. He left school at the age of 16 after taking all the science courses. He later worked as a freelance contributor to newspapers, scriptwriter for local radio and television outlets, and author of pulp articles such as "Are You A Repressed Sex Fiend?". He served in the US Army during the Korean War on the staff of the American Forces Network at Frankfurt, Germany. He claimed that while in the Army he was trained in psychological warfare as a propaganda writer. After leaving the military he worked as a foreign radio correspondent in Paris, Berlin, Rome and Egypt. In 1957, he published Jadoo, a book describing his time in Egypt and India investigating the Indian rope trick and the legendary yeti. In 1966 he produced the "spy and superhero" spoof novel The Fickle Finger of Fate. Influenced by writers such as Charles Fort, he began contributing articles to Flying Saucer Review and took up investigating UFOs and assorted Forteana as a full-time pursuit. Keel analyzed what he called "windows" and "waves" (or flaps, as they are often called) of reported UFO events, concluding that a disproportionate number occurred on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A member of the Screenwriters Guild, Keel reportedly wrote scripts for Get Smart, The Monkees, Mack & Myer for Hire, and Lost in Space.

John Keel Lecture on UFOs
John A. Keel was an American journalist, writer, and researcher of paranormal phenomena, primarily in the field of UFOlogy. His most well-known work is the book the Mothman Prophecies, an account of his, and those of the numerous people around the Ohio Valley area, paranormal experiences that were centered mainly in Point Pleasant, WV in the 1960s. He was a proponent of the inter- dimensional hypothesis, that is that UFOs and all related phenomena are of inter dimensional origin, not of extraterrestrial. John A. Keel was an American journalist, writer, and researcher of paranormal phenomena, primarily in the field of UFOlogy. His most well-known work is the book the Mothman Prophecies, an account of his, and those of the numerous people around the Ohio Valley area, paranormal experiences that were centered mainly in Point Pleasant, WV in the 1960s.
He was a proponent of the inter- dimensional hypothesis, that is that UFOs and all related phenomena are of inter dimensional origin, not of extraterrestrial.

JOHN A. KEEL (March 25, 1930 – July 3, 2009) was an American journalist and influential UFO-ologist best known as the author of "The Mothman Prophecies." The least known of his tremendously influential works, "The Eighth Tower" was derived from material left out of "The Mothman Prophecies."
"The Eighth Tower," is not specifically about UFOs but explores a wider range of paranormal phenomena. The book was first published in 1975 and is subtitled "On Ultraterrestrials and the Superspectrum." In "The Eighth Tower," Keel proposes the idea that various paranormal occurrences, including UFO sightings, are connected and may be manifestations of a higher reality or alternate dimensions.
The title of the book refers to the concept that there may be an "eighth tower" beyond the seven traditional towers or levels of existence. Keel suggests that this hypothetical eighth tower represents a realm inhabited by ultraterrestrial beings, entities that exist outside our normal understanding of space and time.
"The Eighth Tower" explores themes of high strangeness, synchronicity, and the interconnectivity of different paranormal phenomena. Keel believed that there might be a unified field that explains a wide range of seemingly unrelated supernatural experiences.

Brent Raynes has been investigating UFOs and paranormal phenomena for the last 55 years. He is editor of Alternate Perceptions, an online magazine, that recently published its 290th issue. Here he focuses on Keel's most famous investigation: the Mothman sightings and related precognitions around Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in the mid-1960s. In 2002, a film was made based on Keel's book, The Mothman Prophecies. Raynes points out that the actual investigation was more complex than was revealed in the movie. He describes his own research into this case as well as that of others. In one related, and well-documented, episode, Keel had a lengthy visit from a friend who was deceased. Raynes describes his own efforts to communicate with Keel after Keel's death in 2009.

Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "Parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death.

John Alva Keel, born Alva John Kiehle (March 25, 1930 – July 3, 2009) was an American journalist and influential UFOlogist who is best known as author of The Mothman Prophecies.
Life and career
Keel was born in Hornell, New York, the son of a small-time bandleader. His parents separated and he was raised by his grandparents. He was interested in magic (illusion) and had his first story published in a magicians' magazine at age 12. He left school at the age of 16 after taking all the science courses. He later worked as a freelance contributor to newspapers, scriptwriter for local radio and television outlets, and author of pulp articles such as "Are You A Repressed Sex Fiend?". He served in the US Army during the Korean War on the staff of the American Forces Network at Frankfurt, Germany. He claimed that while in the Army he was trained in psychological warfare as a propaganda writer. After leaving the military he worked as a foreign radio correspondent in Paris, Berlin, Rome and Egypt. In 1957, he published Jadoo, a book describing his time in Egypt and India investigating the Indian rope trick and the legendary yeti. In 1966 he produced the "spy and superhero" spoof novel The Fickle Finger of Fate. Influenced by writers such as Charles Fort, he began contributing articles to Flying Saucer Review and took up investigating UFOs and assorted Forteana as a full-time pursuit. Keel analyzed what he called "windows" and "waves" (or flaps, as they are often called) of reported UFO events, concluding that a disproportionate number occurred on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A member of the Screenwriters Guild, Keel reportedly wrote scripts for Get Smart, The Monkees, Mack & Myer for Hire, and Lost in Space.
