John Bennett was missing, presumed dead on 15 March 2004 in a commercial diving incident in Korea. He was declared legally dead in 2006, but the body has never been recovered. Bennett was survived by his wife Gabby and their two children, Joshua and Katie.

Sir John Bennet (1553 – 15 February 1627) was a judge and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1597 and 1621. His career ended in disgrace after he was found guilty of extorting bribes and excessive fees.
Life
Bennet was the second son of Richard Bennet of Clapcot, Berkshire (now in Oxfordshire) and his wife, Elizabeth Tesdale, the daughter of Thomas Tesdale of Stanford Dingley and Abingdon. She was the half-sister of Thomas Tesdale, the founder of Pembroke College, Oxford. He was probably educated at Abingdon School of which his family were benefactors. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford in 1573. He was awarded BA in 1577 on 11 June 1577 and his MA on 15 June 1580. In 1583 he was incorporated at Cambridge and awarded MA there. He returned to Oxford and was elected a proctor in 1585. He was awarded his BCL and DCL by special dispensation on 6 July 1589. In the following year was admitted as an advocate in the Court of Arches.
Bennet began his career as vicar-general and chancellor in the Diocese of York, probably through the influence of John Piers, the Archbishop of York, who had been the Dean of Christ Church. He was joint commissary of the exchequer court. In 1591 he was appointed to the prebend of Langtoft. In 1594 he was appointed J.P. for the East Riding of Yorkshire. He advanced his career in other areas, serving as a legal adviser to a commission negotiating with Scotland about the security of the border, and in 1599 was appointed to the Council of the North.
John Bennet (c. 1575 – after 1614) was a composer of the English madrigal school. The birth and death of John Bennet is unknown, however his first collection of madrigals were published in 1599.
Life
Bennet's madrigals include All Creatures Now as well as Weep, O Mine Eyes. The latter is an homage to John Dowland, using part of Dowland's most famous piece, Flow my Tears, also known in its pavane form as Lachrymae Antiquae. John Bennet's life is mostly undocumented. Bennet did however leave behind evidence that his impact is great. One of his most famous pieces is Weep, O Mine Eyes. This piece is a madrigal. Bennet dedicated his madrigal volume, These First Fruits Of My Simple Skill The Endeavors Of A Young Wit to Ralph Assheton in 1599. Assheton held civic office in both Lancashire and Cheshire, he was dedicated as a token for favours received. It seems probable, therefore, that Bennet came from the north-west of England, and was born about 1575–80.
Early life
Bennet was born into a prosperous family and received his first exposure to music as a choirboy. he was educated at Abingdon School and advanced in music by his early twenties, he produced the 'Volume of 17: Madrigals for Four Voices'. At around that same time, Bennet fashioned four psalm settings and a prayer for the 1599 Barley's psalter. Though Bennet's style showed the influence of Wilbye, Weelkes, and Dowland, his greatest debt was to Thomas Morley.
John Bennet (1714–1759) was an early Methodist preacher, regarded as being "one of Wesley’s most responsible helpers in Yorkshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire".
Life
Born at Whitehaugh, near Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, he was the youngest son of William Bennet, a yeoman, and Ann his wife, who were members of the local Dissenting Chapel of Dr James Clegg. Having received a good education at the school at Chapel-en-le-Frith and at the hands of private tutors, at the age of about seventeen Bennet attended Findern Academy, near Derby, to study for the Ministry. However, for reasons unknown, Bennet later commenced work as a Justice’s Clerk, and later as an independent packman transporting goods across the moors from Sheffield to Macclesfield.
While working as a packman Bennet met the itinerant preacher, David Taylor, a former butler of Selina Hastings, the Countess of Huntingdon, and became his travelling companion. In January 1741 Bennet had an evangelical conversion experience at Heyfield, Derbyshire. In the spring of the following year he met Benjamin Ingham the Moravian, and became his associate. In the Summer of 1742 Bennet first met John Wesley and, impressed by his preaching, became connected with the Methodist movement. As a Methodist preacher Bennet soon established a circuit of religious societies scattered throughout the north of England, later known as "John Bennet’s Round". Usually on horseback, Bennet would follow a route from his home at Chinley which took him throughout the northern counties.
John Bennet (10 January 1628 – 16 May 1663) was an English landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1660 to 1663.
Bennet was the eldest surviving son of John Bennet, merchant of St. Stephen’s Walbrook, London and his wife Joane Mill, daughter of William Mill of St. Clement Danes. His father died in 1631. He was a student of Gray's Inn in 1642. In 1652 he bought Great Abington from the Earl of Northampton. He was a J.P. for Cambridgeshire from 1657 until his death. In 1660, he was elected Member of Parliament for Bridgnorth in the Convention Parliament. He was a Gentleman pensioner from June 1660 to 1662 and a commissioner for assessment from September 1660 to 1662. In 1661, he was re-elected MP for Bridgnorth for the Cavalier Parliament. He was a gentleman of the privy chamber and also commissioner for corporations from 1662 until his death.
Bennet died at the age of 35 and was buried in the Mercers’ Chapel, London.
Bennet married Elizabeth Whitmore, daughter of Sir Thomas Whitmore, 1st Baronet of Apley Park, Shropshire on 5 April 1654 and had one son who was later MP for Newton.

An English madrigal, sung by the Madrigal Choir of Binghamton.
Dr. Bruce Borton has been the group's Artistic Director since 2011. Bennet's volume of madrigals, "These First Fruits of My Simple Skill - The Endeavors of a Young Wit" was published in 1599.
We sure miss singing together, and we miss singing for our audience! While concerts are on pause, our creative juices are moving us towards expressions of musical delight. We just have to figure out how to accomplish this goal without being in the same room! Herewith is one humble offering, as we recall performing a well-received concert of madrigals, singers in costume, at Binghamton's Christ Episcopal Church.
